Rubeus Hagrid

Keeper of Keys and Ground at Hogwarts. Half giant. Delivers the letter to Harry and takes him shopping in Diagon Alley. Has a fondness for unusual beasts which most people would find scary, but he adores. He has always dreamed of having a dragon for a pet and almost gets this opportunity when he comes into possession of a dragon's egg, which he proceeds to hatch in his hut.
Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts when he was a student after being falsely accused of releasing a monster from the chamber of secrets. Albus Dumbledore, a teacher at the time, arranged for Hagrid to be kept on as game keeper. In the fall of 1993, he gets appointed as the teacher for Care of Magical Creatures.
