Awesome color and variety! Great learning tool.

My 18 month old loved this book the first time he saw it. We are pleased at the number and types of animals inside! There are farm animals, zoo animals, pets, etc. - many of which he recognizes already, but there are plenty for him to learn as he gets older, too. The pictures are beautiful and clear and give us a lot to look at and talk about. The combination of familiar animals like cats and dogs and more obscure ones like goats gives him something to feel proud of while he works on learning the harder ones.
We bought this book based on seeing My Big Truck Book and were not disappointed at all - they are both great!
Board Book 2008-01-12
This line of books can't be beat! Great pictures - simplicity, with not too many details - so that the little ones so that they can focus on what they are learning. Nice, hard board books which should prove to be durable. The size of this one is great. Adults love looking at it too! I ordered the Colors book too. You won't be disappointed!
An early favorite and a fantastic teaching resource 2008-01-09
From the time my son first learned to talk, he has shown a fierce curiosity about what things are called as well as a total fascination with animals. I picked up Priddy's My Big Animal Book to help him identify various animals as well as to build his growing vocabulary, and it was a tremendous success on both levels.
The book features large, sturdy pages that catalog a variety of animals you'd find on a farm, in a zoo, or in people's houses. There is also a section on baby animals. The photos are large and colorful, and never fail to capture my son's attention. Between this book and My Big Truck Book (Priddy Bicknell Big Ideas for Little People), my son's vocabulary and understanding of the world around him increased by leaps and bounds. His first trip to the petting zoo and Zoo Atlanta were even more fascinating to him after seeing the pictures in this book. The day he saw real gorillas for the first time, he turned to me with a stunned look and shouted "Gayayas, Dada!" Thinking about that never fails to put a smile on my face! The book also allowed us to use his curiosity about animals to teach him about sizes, animal sounds, counting, and colors.
My son is two years old now and far more interested in storybooks, and the knowledge he gained from My Big Animal Book was a great help in transitioning him to books like Hug and Where's Spot?. He still takes this book off the shelf time after time just to look at the great photographs of his favorite animals.
I highly recommend this durable, colorful, and inexpensive book to all parents of curious toddlers. As teaching aids go, My Big Animal Book has proven far more effective than many a high-priced electronic gadget or DVD.
Perfect for new baby! 2007-09-21
Priddy Bicknell board books are great books for new babies. I recommend giving this one as a baby shower book.
A great book with lots of big pictures 2006-11-05
My son is mesmerized by the pictures. There are so many great photos. We go through the animals over and over again.

I love this book! I purchased it for my friend who was looking for a book of animals that had actual pictures, not art. It's perfect. The realization of the book is awesome.
Best animal book ever 2008-05-20
I got this book for my 15 month old grandchild and it is her favorite book. Every page has several animal photos and she wants to "read" it again and again and make all the noises!
A surprize hit!

I really only got this book as an 'extra' purchase, to qualify for free shipping. However it has become an unexpected hit with my 16 month old who can now identify most of the animals from the pictures, and she will ask for this book over and over and over again.
The book includes some rather obscure animals, which probably wouldn't be on my 'introductory list' of animals for a young child. My list would probably run "lion, tiger, bear, cat, dog" (which are also included)... rather than the "gosling, chinchilla, parakeet, egret and kookaburra" which you'll also find in this book. My husband and I have both learned a few new animals as well!
All in all and great buy that keeps my daughter entertained for hours.
Favorite animal book! 2008-03-27
This is my 10-month old twins' FAVORITE book in the world (and we have LOTS of baby/children's books). I think they like the close up pictures, the size, and the fact that some animals seem to be looking right at them. Highly recommended.
Hours of fun! 2008-03-03
These books are a great deal for hours of fun! My little guys looks at the pictures over and over and doesn't ever seem to get tired of hearing the names of all the pictures. These books have been great for his vocabulary as he tries to say all the words too!
