Best of the series

I think this may be the best book of this yummy/gross series! Shan shows some expert creativity and a passion for what he is writing as Darren and Harkat escape to a world possessing the mystical Lake of Souls in an attempt to find out who Harkat was in his prior life. This new world is spooky, gripping, and thoroughly terrifying in sheer Shan style. He brings several major plot strings together for plenty of surprises and more emotion than I expected.

This book was an exquisite read and anyone who loves action and suspence will absoulutly love this book. Darren Shan is a half vampire who helps his best friend harkat find out who he once was by entering a different dimension. The author Darren Shan was bornin London, Ireland. His favorite hobbies as a kid were wacthing horror dracula movies and reading spoky comics. Darren Shan wrote twelve books in this series. And is the author of a new series called; The Demonata series.

Cirque du Freak: The Lake of Souls is about Darren Shan and his friend Harkat Mulds. Desmond Tiny has sent them to an alternate world to find out who Harkat used to be in the Lake of Souls. First they must find and kill the black panther, steal the gelatinous globes, and cross an unnamed lake, but they get sidetracked by a dragon attack. They manage to escape. Then they meet Spitz Abrrams and travel across the land. They meet the kulashkas, see the grotesque, and manage to reach The Lake of Souls. I won't say anymore for it will ruin the story if I do.

Wonderful series

I am 38 and I have to guiltily admit I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire series. Quick read, good characters, and just enough twists and connections to other books in the series to keep a series reader interested.

Holy cow! The Lake Of Souls, book ten of the Cirque Du Freak series, is like the others, wonderful! It is so captivating! I finished it in less then a few hours. I just couldn't put it down. Author, Darren Shan (or so he says) has an imagination we could only wish for. With all the twists, turns, and flips that go on in this book, you'll be so to get your hands on the next one! Hopefully, book eleven will be just as great. (of course it will, what am I saying?) Just read the book. Trust me on this one, you'll love it!

The Lake of Souls, the tenth book in the Darren Shan saga, is about the little person Harkat and Darren the half blood Vampire Prince, go on an adventure to find out who Harkat was in his past life. This book is mainly told in a serious and action like tone. But on the adventure the author puts in a new character that brings a little humor to the story. This book is mainly targeting the middle school audience.I highly recommend this book but only if you have read the nine before it.

First off, i have to say that if you haven't read the previous Cirque Du Freak Books, you should read those in order before reading the other books. The Lake of Souls follows the half-vampire Darren Shan and the mysterious little person Harkat Mulds through a mystical land full of secrets... on a quest to discover Harkat's true identity. This book takes the reader into a fantasy land, full of mysterious creatures, and danger. It is a must read for fans of the Cirque Du Freak series, and it does not disappoint. It's full of twists, and you will be hungry for more by the end of the book. These books never get boring, and leave you anxious to find out what happens next.

Lake of Souls is one of the most amazing books of the Cirque du Freak series I have read so far! Lake of Souls is about Darren Shan and Harkart Mulds who go to a different and strange world ... or so its seems. But as they go on they kill a black panther with a map on its stomach which leads them to a swamp where they steal some gelatinous globes (where their plan sort of fails but they get some help from a witch). Then they built a boat (with some more help with the witch) and are off across the lake. After a short time on the lake, they are attacked by a dragon luckily they both got away but Darren took quite a fall into the lake. Darren was then fished out of the water by a strange man who said he was a pirate. Next all three went to the Temple of Grotesque where they see a strange liquid being milked out of a disgusting looking creature. Then they stole some of the (highly explosive) "holy liquid". When they finally got to got to the Lake of Souls, which was not as large as they thought, they make a chilling discovery. The lake is guarded by dragons! My favorite part of the story was when Darren was fighting off the dragons (with the bombs they made of the gelatinous globes and the "holy liquid") and was stupefied by their gracefulness in the air. I was surprised by the answer of who Harkart was!
