Speaks for itself!

New Moon is the second in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. While our beloved Edward Cullen doesn't actually appear in the book until somewhere toward the end, apparitions of him serve to suffice. We get to know Jacob Black much better than we got to know him in Twilight and even come to understand the relationship between Jacob and Bella to the point that we actually understand why she would have such difficulty letting one or the other go. Excellently written, easy to read, emotionally captivating - New Moon is a must read!

A Big Letdown

I really enjoyed Twilight and was more than ready to delve into New Moon, but reading it made me want to howl. The initial book was a fresh take on vampire lore combined with teenage angst. I admired Bella for attempting to create a new life for herself with a parent that she really hadn't developed a relationship with, in a city that she really hated, in order to foster a better relationship with her newly married, yet immature mother. The romance with a handsome, mysterious stranger was a great plot, seeing as she didn't think that someone of his caliber could fall for someone like her, but did. When the book ended I went right out and bought the second installment. I am sorry I wasted the money and the time it took to find out that it was not worth it.
I am apalled that SM created such an immature, vapid, self-absorbed, co-depedant 'protagonist'. Bella's character development was abominable. Her relationships with everyone was so unhealthy and her self destructive tendencies are not something I would want any daughter of mine to emulate. Digression not progession seemed to be the theme here. I won't even take the time to comment in depth on Edward, Jake, or her father. I only wish to say that each of them was clueless when it came to dealing with Bella.
I wish I could say if given the third & fourth installments I would read them, but I would be lying. I could not justify the time it would take to read something that amounts to nothing in the end. I hope that "Hostage", SM's adult novel, will not make the readers feel like one.
A truly riveting book.

New Moon takes off from the bestseller Twilight.
In this book, you will discover the true depth of the love forged between Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, the mystery of why Edward causes Bella so much pain, and even better, if Edward will let Bella give her soul up to truly be with Edward.
This book will keep you flipping frantically through the pages, yearning to know more.
It will be sure to satisfy your thirst of romance, friendship, and suspense.

This is the best book I have read in a long time. All three of these books are. I wish I have more to read. I didn't want to stop reading.
Not worth the hype

Legions of readers entranced by Twilight are hungry for more and they won't be disappointed. In New Moon, Stephenie Meyer delivers another irresistible combination of romance and suspense with a supernatural twist. The "star-crossed" lovers theme continues as Bella and Edward find themselves facing new obstacles, including a devastating separation, the mysterious appearance of dangerous wolves roaming the forest in Forks, a terrifying threat of revenge from a female vampire and a deliciously sinister encounter with Italy's reigning royal family of vampires, the Volturi. Passionate, riveting, and full of surprising twists and turns, this vampire love saga is well on its way to literary immortality.
Better than Amazing!

This book... omg! There are hardly words! It was definitely my second favorite book (Twilight being my first!!!). It's a must read if you have read Twilight first!

this book was very boring once edward left. i did not want to read anymore once he left. its my least favorite of the three. the ending was very good, but i could not stand the middle edward leaving was sad and horrible. i would only read this one once i would read the others twice. i am all for team edward, i hate jacob.

This book wasn't extreamly interesting, but it leaves you hanging all over, which will leave you wanting to know more! If you can stand reading New Moon you'll have a great surprise waiting for you in Eclipse!
Love the series, but this book is my least favorite of the three...

Well, I am a huge Twilight fan and this series got me into reading paranormal romances, but this book in particular is my least favorite of the three. First off, Edward is my favorite character (shocker), and he is missing in almost half of the book! I almost wanted to skip 50+ pages just to get to the parts where he was actually there. I haven't read this book for maybe almost a year now, so I'm a bit vague when it comes to remembering all of the details, but that was definitely what stuck out the most for me when anyone asked me of my opionion on New Moon. My suggestion, read Twilight, read New Moon, and read Eclipse. They're all great books. This one in particular was just my least favorite.
