As decadent as a Godiva truffle 2008-01-15
Spring Break is over, and while some are hitting the books, the Upper East Side set is spending more time showing off their glowing tans, or nursing hangovers from a weeks worth of partying. But not everything is fun and games for the glamorous. Acceptance letters are on their way out from college admissions, and the time has come to find out where everyone will be spending the next four years. Hopefully it doesn't stress anyone out too much.

Blair Waldorf breathes, eats, and sleeps Yale. Since she was old enough to toddle around, she has known that Yale was in her future. It was her destiny. And now that college acceptance letters are in the mail, Blair can't think about anything other than holding that welcome letter in her hand. After all, she has spent her life working on accomplishing this goal. And, in her mind, once she's accepted, the world will be at her fingertips. As if it's not already.

Serena van der Woodsen has never had to work for anything in her life. When you're so effortlessly drop dead gorgeous, of course, it's no surprise. All Serena wants is to hang out, have fun, and make-out with cute boys. And as for college? Of course she applied to all of the Ivies. But when she takes her tours of the colleges, she'll be checking out one thing, and one thing only...how good looking her student tour guides are.

After a stint in rehab and a brief relationship/fling with a pill popping, whisky guzzling heiress, Nate has decided that it's time to buckle down, and start thinking about his future. But that doesn't mean that he can't indulge in a little debauchery - in the form of a joint - from time to time. When his college acceptance letters make it to his stale-pizza-smelling floor, however, he realizes that he holds in his hands something that could both jeopardize his relationship with Blair forever, and set him up for life. Now he has to make a decision once and for all; which seems unlikely thanks to the jumbled musings floating through his pot-addled mind.

Unlike everyone else, Vanessa Abrams isn't stressing about college acceptance letters because - surprise surprise - the little filmmaker of the hour already received her acceptance letter from NYU all those months ago. That doesn't mean that she won't exploit those who are in the midst of a sweat-inducing tizzy over the prospect of where they got in, however, via a documentary that will make you want to hide your head in a paper bag. But she has to do something to keep her mind off of her current hatred for her ex-boyfriend, Dan Humphrey. But Dan has enough problems of his own, now that he's attempting to fend off his classmates, who all seem to know a little too much about his younger sister, Jenny, and her ever-burgeoning chest.

Each time I complete a GOSSIP GIRL novel, I am under the impression that Cecily von Ziegesar will never be able to top it; but then her next installment hits shelves and does just that. The same can be said for YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I WANT. As difficult as it may be to believe, Blair is most certainly at her most neurotic now that college acceptance letters have hit the mail, and she's going so far as to accost the innocent mailman. Serena, as always, is as chill as a stoner - even though she's not one. And Nate, once again, is displaying more mature tendencies, as he begins to contemplate his future. After all this time, Vanessa is finally starting to grow on me, as she seems to have some compassion waddling around in that bald head of hers; but Dan has completely begun to repulse me ever since he indulged in a little private fun with a snaggle-toothed writer who happens to be wise beyond her years. And Jenny, of course, is quickly headed down the path that Serena is just stumbling back from. If she's not careful, she may just find herself in boarding school next year. As decadent as a Godiva truffle.

Serena is feeling lonely even though boys fall at her feet.

Blair and Nate finally..

and Dan and Vanessa move in.

The end.

Cool sixth book! 2007-07-25
Cecily Von Ziegesar really keeps her readers interested in the sixth book in her bestselling series Gossip Girl. In this book, college acceptance letters and being sent out, and things turn out the opposite of what everyone expected. Blair was waitlisted at Yale, and only accepted at Georgetown. Serena and Nate both make it into all of their choices, including Harvard and Yale. Blair gets mad at them for this because she has better grades, etc. Blair's mother has her baby girl, named Yale. Dan practically gets into all of his college choices to, but in the end he probably will choose NYU, because Vanessa is going there, and they both moved in. Serena helps Jenny get a modeling job, with turns out to spread lots of gossip. And Vanessa throws a birthday party, which turns into a diaster. Cecily did a great job, I only wished that Blair got into Yale.

Blah!!! 2006-09-29
You're the one that I want, by Cecily von Ziegesar, is about preppy, rich kids who get to do whatever they want. They are very high class and are always talking about someone else. In this book, they are waiting for their college acceptance letters to come back and see which colleges they were accepted to. They are always complaining about something. They buy whatever they want and are always worried about what others will think of them. They try and find comfort in objects and or boys to calm their nerves while waiting for the letters. They won't be happy until they get their letters and get into all of the colleges that they applied to. Although this book is about a lot of wealthy and some what snobby teenagers, I really enjoy reading it. It's very interesting and funny to read. I think that some of the situations that they go through can relate to what I go through. They're teens in this book and regardless of how rich or poor you are, all teens go through some of the same situations. It's just funny to see how they would handle the different situations thrown at them. I think ultimately it's a good book because you can escape from reality while you're reading it. I can imagine the stress that they're going through while waiting for their letters so it's just interesting to read about it. It's funny because you don't think these types of things can actually take place so I enjoyed reading it. I've actually read a lot of the novels from the Gossip Girl series and they're all interesting, dramatic, and fun to read as well as hard to put down.

PARENTS BEWARE!!!! 2006-06-30
Parents BEWARE!!! This Author uses very strong profanity! Check it out for yourself, flip through any of her books and you will find "f" this or "motherf" throughout the whole book. I refer to it as a book loosely. It is utter filth that wasted good paper that could of been used for anyother book (except her other filth books--The IT Girl) they are littered just as much. I do not feel that our young teens or young adults need to be reading junk like this. Where have our morals and values gone? I have had this authors books removed from our schools library and the local public library as well.

Gossip Girl- You're the on that I want 2006-06-20
I recently started reading the gossip girl series and finished the first 6 books in 1 week!
I really enjoyed this book as I did all the others.
The best thing about this book is Nate and Blair finally "do it" but i couldn't help but feel sorry for Blair because no matter how hard she tries she always comes in second best to Serena. She and Serena both apply to a number of Colleges and Serena gets into all of them (including Yale) despite her bad grades and the fact that she got kicked out of boarding school where as Blair gets into one school and is waitlisted at Yale which totally breaks her heart. Nate gets into Yale as well and sleeps with Brigid his Brown interviewer so as you can see Blair is not the lucky one in this book.
I would definetly recomend this book to girls who are just above twelve but I suggest you read the first five books first.

You're The One That I Want 2006-04-20
I've been reading Gossip Girl novels since I was about twelve years old, and I have to admit that they're my guilty pleasure. Some feels that the books might be a bad influence on younger kids, and I agree to an certain degree. Parents should know how their child might be able to handle certain books. I had been reading books by V.C. Andrews that are worse then this. My mom bought me a book and said that this looked more interesting. For me the Gossip Girl books take me away from my simple lifestyle into something more extravagent and the author is not encouraging their behavior. The things written about are basically realistic and really happening, maybe not in the exact way, but lots of people you wouldn't expect are getting involved in the same things. Personally I love it, but I know that I can handle reading it without being influenced by the "negative things."
