BECAUSE I'M WORTH IT is most certainly worth your time
2008-01-10
Contrary to what many believe, money certainly can't buy you happiness, and no one knows that better than the privileged members of New York society, and residents of the Upper East Side - namely Blair Waldorf.
Blair Waldorf has it all. The looks, the clothes, but she's missing two very important things - her hotter than hot ex-boyfriend Nate Archibald, and a spot at the prestigious Yale - a place of higher learning which she has had her sights set on since she could walk. But after a botched interview, Blair is seriously contemplating enrolling in community college - after all, in her opinion, that's probably where she belongs. Instead, she hacks off her hair during an Audrey Hepburn moment, then snags a re-do interview for her college of choice. But with her aggravating new stepbrother, Aaron, lurking around, she still can't find a moment of peace.
Blair's best frienemy, Serena van der Woodsen, doesn't mind Aaron's presence, however. In fact, she can't seem to get enough of it. In her opinion, for the first time in her life, she is madly, deeply in love with the dreadlocked, bohemian style that Aaron embodies. But maybe, just maybe, Aaron is beginning to feel suffocated by his girlfriend's presence, and the fact that she expects him to spend his spare time accompanying her to the various fashion week shows coming up - one of which she may be playing a role in.
And of course we can't forget Nate. His good looks may draw you in, but his constant dependence on marijuana can certainly work to deter you from taking a second glance. When he gets busted, it's finally time for him to turn over a new leaf in his life. Hopefully it won't be a marijuana leaf.
Jenny Humphrey and her brother, Dan, along with his girlfriend, Vanessa, of course, are still up to their old tricks; only slightly different. Jenny has picked up a new best friend who seems to think about nothing but romance - perhaps because Valentine's Day is right around the corner. And Dan has let the popularity of his first ever published poem go to his head, leaving Vanessa out in the cold. Never mind, she may just have someone else who can keep her warm - and appreciate her talent for what it truly is; even if it's slightly weird.
It has been a few months since I read ALL I WANT IS EVERYTHING, but that doesn't mean that I have forgotten about some of my favorite Upper East Siders. Upon reading the first paragraph, my passion for Cecily von Ziegesar's characters came flooding back, and stayed with me long after I turned the last page. As always, Blair steals the show with her over-dramatic hysterics and theatrics, which leave the reader spellbound; but little Jenny certainly shows the potential of snagging the spotlight with her constant contemplation regarding the state of her life, and the choices that she has made of late. Serena is gorgeous, as always, but her bubbly, carefree, somewhat air-headed personality can be a little much at times, and leave you wanting to take a step back from her character; and no matter how much trouble Nate gets himself into, it's impossible to resist his gorgeous green eyes, and debonair way of living. Dan's transformation is a little bizarre, as is Vanessa's ability to put up with Dan's betrayal; and Aaron comes off as just an afterthought who may disappear from future installments bit-by-bit. All in all, however, BECAUSE I'M WORTH IT is most certainly worth your time.

Cecily keeps it interesting!

Cecily von Ziegesar's 4th installment in the Gossip Girl series is fun and interesting. In this segment, Blair gets the chance to redue her Yale interview with one of her fathers friend who works for Yale. At school, Serena and Blair join a peer pressure group where Jenny and other freshmen, including Elise Owens gets advice and gets to ask for help on pressure. Blair falls in love with her Yale interviewer, who falls in love back. But she realizes that he was Elise's father, and Elise is saddend by the fact that her father is less around, and she believes he is having an affair, so Blair leaves him. Serena gets to model for ads and at a fashion show, which leads to the breakup of her and Aaron, Blair's stepbrother. One of Dan's poems gets published in a newspaper and it becomes famous, and he gets to speak at a country club, and go to party's. Vanessa's filming becomes famous, but she turns down and deal with a famous filmer. Nate goes to rehab after his dealer starts working for the police. There he mets another girl and saves her life, while also falling in love with her. Cecily did a great job on this novel, and she keeps the series interesting.
Gossip Girl, Because im worth it

Welcome to New York, where all the drama, lies, friendships, and romance happen. Blair and Serena, best friends and seniors of Constance Billard School for Girls go through the hard time of getting ready for college. Dan and Vanessa, boyfriend and girlfriend struggle with the peer pressure of becoming famous. Dan is a Poet, Vanessa is a Film maker. Nate a senior prays that he gets accepted to Brown University, but that's not going to happen if he doesn't stay in rehab, even though he loves it. Blair suffers as she waits impatiently for her news of being accepted to Yale, while Serena model's and dates Blair's new step-brother Aaron. Jenny, Dan's younger sister who is in 9th grade falls in love with Nate (Blair's ex-boyfriend) who is a senior. But in the end Jenny finds out that he is not the one. Well, right now I'm going to stop before I tell you what happens in the end. But I would recommend this book for girls in 8th grade and up it explains so much about everyday life. Enjoy!

After the disappointed g.g book # 3 This book (The fourth one) comes out it's so good. It's good like the first book was. Alot of things happen that are shocking like Nate gets busted in the park and Blair has an affair with a married man! Wow it was good. But the thing I hate about this book is Dan and Vanessa. Anything with them I quickly read through. It's so boring until Dan cheats on her with Mystery Craze. Also he's becoming very arrogant just like the rest of the characters in this book and I hate that! His sister Jenny has a lesbian affair too. I didn't see that one coming. It's all too juicy to put down.
My favorite

This is the third gossip girl novel. So far out of reading all of them so far, this is my favorite. I like the plot that Jenny and all the characters were into. They live the perfect lives and it's just hilarious to see what they're going to be doing next.
Dan is the poet, Vanessa is the girl who knows what she wants to do, Blair is used to getting everything she wants. This sometimes happens. And Serena is just the star, who out glows them all in the plot. Nate is just pathetic in my opinion.
Gossip Girl- Because I'm worth it

Everyone who's anyone in New York City is suffering from post-college-application cabin fever and it's time to run a little wild! Could it be that Serena is smitten with Blair's stepbrother or will the Fashion Week parties pull her away from any attempt at true love? Dan and Vanessa are mad about each other and pursuing their creative dreams -- but be careful of what you wish for. Nate hits an all-time low as Blair's Yale interview with a tall, handsome alum takes an unexpected turn and Jenny makes a new friend who gets a little too close for comfort. And just who is going to get into college early acceptance? Wintertime has never been hotter in NYC as things steam up all over Fifth Avenue.
Uneducated Author...?

Ok, so I definitely enjoy the Gossip Girl series. However, in this book (or maybe in one of the other ones in the series, I don't really remember the differences between them), Dan reflects on the nature of the monster in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. He refers to the monster as Frankenstein, which is a little bit awkward to any reader who realizes that Frankenstein was the name of the doctor. Apparently, Cecily von Whatever (who, I'm guessing, added the "von" to her name when she started writing) has never actually read Frankenstein. I could just be being picky, but it's kind of an obvious mistake. Wouldn't you think that at least, say, her publisher, who should know something about literature, would catch it? Maybe they figured that the type of girl reading this book would be too stupid to notice.
Moreover, while the Gossip Girl books ARE pretty fun, I ended up getting really sick of the author's continuous attempts to live vicariously through Serena.
Because this book is worth it...

The 4th installment in Cecily von Ziegesar's "Gossip Girl" is amazing and proves to be slightly better than the 3rd one. This book focuses on B's tension to get into Yale, the hots she has for an older man and her mother's pregnancy. S's relationship with A, V's relatioship with D and N's addiction to weed. It also includes some hints as to who gossip girl is...
Still fabulous, juicy and full of gossip!
THE WORST BOOK I HAVE EVER TRIED TO READ
2005-08-07
I'm shocked. It really worries me that so many girls my age read these books. I don't like to sound like a parent, but these books set a really bad example. The characters are so spoiled, it's disgusting. And they're mean, not to mention slutty. How can this book be a bestseller? It's trash. Don't people get bored with girls acting trashy and sleeping around? Look, read what you want, but parents should be warned about this book. Gossip Girl is NOT WORTH IT!
Better then the 3rd in The Series!

Blair still waiting for her letter from Yale to see if shes accepted or not after her first interview which was a disaster. Nate goes to rehab after found buying marajuana where he meets Georgia who he starts to like and thinks rehab isn't so bad after all. Serena and Aaron are finally an item, but who knows how long it will last! Dan gets his poem "Sluts," published in The New York Times and meets Mystery who he has affair with ending his relationship with Vanessa. Jenny finds a new love named Leo, and they become an item.
This 4th installment in the series is defenitely better then the 3rd! Recommend if you like The Gossip Girl Series!
