Editorial Review
Photoshop is one of those programs that's so cool you just want to dive right in and start creating–but by plunging in head-first, without any guidance, you're likely to miss a lot. There's a solution: With this book, you learn by doing, getting your feet wet immediately as you progress through a series of hands-on projects that build on your growing Photoshop knowledge. Simple step-by-step instructions, review questions at the end of each chapter, and a companion CD with all of the book's project files make learning a breeze as the Adobe Creative Team takes you on a self-paced tour of the image-editing powerhouse. This bestselling guide has been completely revised to cover all of Photoshop CS2's new features, which include advanced tools for digital photographers, such as a new Spot Healing Brush for correcting scratches or blemishes, and Smart Sharpen for fixing photo blurring. Photoshop CS2 also includes loads of new creative tools, such as Vanishing Point and Image Warp. This comprehensive guide starts with an introductory tour of the software and then progresses on through lessons on everything from Photoshop's interface to more complex topics like color management, Web graphics, and photo retouching.

GREAT BOOK! 2008-05-04
Great information and details. This book is so easy to follow and understand. It's great for starters and pros.

Excellent but not what I was looking for 2008-05-02
As a complete novice to PhotoShop, this has been a great book for me. However, I am more interested in photo retouching using photoshop and so probably should have bought a book that focuses on that subject. Overall, though, it's well written, informative, and easy to follow. I would recommend it for someone looking to gain all around knowledge of PhotoShop and its features.

There are many better books out for teaching about photoshop. I had to buy this book for my digital photography class. Anything from Scott Kelby is better.

easy to follow 2008-02-29
I do not have Adobe Photoshop CS2, but am taking a class that follows the book. When I get the CD and install it, I will be able to do all the wonderful things to my photos that I am learning in the class. The book is very easy to follow. I also bought CS as it has more information in it.

Confused 2008-01-12
I bought this book thinking that learning Adobe software would be best with an Adobe book. What I discovered was the confusing instructions with Adobe books to get started with the lessons in both InDesign and Photoshop. The instructions for "Restoring Default Settings" or "Deleting Preferences to reset to their Original Default Values" and "Save your Current Color Settings" make zero sense to me, and to all in my family who have worked with Photoshop. We followed the instructions exactly on pages 4-7 only to hit a brick wall. When we've tried to open the first lesson which is called Lesson01/Project1 and 01End1.psd file, a dialog box comes up that says "Embedded Profile Mismatch". I called Adobe customer service and Technical support, spoke to 3 different people who could not answer the question, and they did not know what the Mismatch meant. How am I, or other "newbies" supposed to learn the program with such confusing terminology? Does anyone out there know the solution to this dilemma? Should we unistall the program and start over? This has been a very discouraging way to start learning the program. I wanted to get Adobe Certified, but I can't even get thorugh Chapter One. Can anyone recommend anything? Thanks.

Classroom In A Book CS 2 2007-11-04
The perfect book for the perfect product. I have always wanted to learn the basics of Photoshop and this book is certainly a first step in doing that task.

The Title Says It all 2007-08-17
If you want to go back to your school days and have no interaction with the subject matter then this book is OK. But to work on your photos and learn what you want to do to them forget it. Way to structured, more suited to a textbook in a real class room where you can ask the teacher "how do I do this", forget it.
