My son Loves this book
2007-12-06
This book has so many great pictures and a cute story. My son is 23 months and learned so much about the planes and the airport. He also seemed to pick up more vocabulary as we went over the terminal and other areas of the airport. Highly recommend!
Very cute book

This is such a cute Richard Scarry book. It not only takes a tour of the local airport, but it also stresses that there ARE things to do on a rainy day! The ending is quite cute and throughout the tour, it does show children what happenes in an airport. The pictures are so well done and it's a well-loved book in this house. Recommend!
Cute Pics, Lame Story

As in all Richard Scarry Books, this one has really cute and kooky pictures, but I was highly disappointed with the storyline. A Day at the Firestation is SO much better!
Confusing but amusing

My 1 1/2 yr old laughs but I don't think it's bc the airplane is inside the airport. This RS I would not buy along w/ the bedtime stories one. The ULTIMATE RICHARD SCARRY is the Splish Splash Sounds book. Please and Thank You is really good too. There's some RS author controversy out there -something about the books not all being truly written by the RS author...
A good read for me and my just-turned-3-year-old

This book has a cute, fun story with good illustrations like the other Scarry titles I've seen. I don't know how much my daughter is learning from it, except that Mr. Frumble is one unlucky guy. I haven't gotten tired of reading it, as happens sometimes, and that's as important as anything in the long run. It takes me 5-10 minutes to read, and I don't get into some of the outside-the-story details which I think would only distract my daughter from the story at this age.
More than a story

My dd and I had fun looking at the great typical Ricahrd Scarry pictures, and then also enjoyed following along in the pictures to see where one man's hat has ended up after it blew away @ the airport. We have read it many times and she still likes the "searching".
Son who loves aircraft can't get enough
2008-05-22
My son loves any aircraft since his father is a pilot so this book is great. It takes some kids on a tour through an airport and all of it's parts (mind you they do it in an airplane themselves)teaching a lot about the ahppenings. Scarry always entertains.
The book was alright

I thought the book was alright, it was too busy for me. I wish it had more than one story like the other Richard Scarry's books.
Filled with delightful action and fun!

This is wonderful in classic Richard Scarry fashion. Kids never tire of exploring the fabulous illustrations that exhaust every possible bit of activity! Even non-readers will continue to enjoy it on their own after hearing the story from you.
There's great opportunity for vocabulary development here, and as an added bonus, Richard Scarry's A Day at the Airport is absolutely guaranteed to give his young fans a new excitement about travel. Parents will be sure to enjoy that on the next family trip.
