A great book 2007-05-27
Winter of the Ice Wizard is a great Magic Tree House book. It begins when Jack and Annie get a note from Merlin. They end up with Teddy and Kathleen at the castle of the Ice Wizard. There, they learn that he wrote the note and had kidnapped Merlin and Morgan. In order to save them, they have to find the Ice Wizard's eye. They recieve directions to go to the Hollow Hill, and they do, in the ice Wizard's sleigh. They find the eye and give it to the Wizard. He is sad and mad because they eye doesn't work. Then Teddy and Kathleen bring in the swan maiden, the Wizard's sister, and she tells him that she will forgive him. Then his eye works. They are given back Merlin and Morgan, and the mission is over.

I think that this is a great book. Winter of the Ice Wizard is my favorite Magic Tree House book!

Another great Jack and Annie adventure. You can count on this series to be full of rich language, historical data and fun. My class loved this one.

Brilliant! 2006-08-04
Winter of the Ice Wizard is an exciting book you should read it. It starts here, The wizard has lost his eye and his heart. So he only has one eyeball left. Jack and Annie must find his eyeball quick! Before they are in danger... So then the wizard gives them the wind string. And they are off! On their way they met fate sisters who wove cloth to make story's. Annie asked them what the first story was about. The fate sisters said: "Oh that is a sad story". "It all starts here: "The wizard had a beatiful daughter, One day he asked her to leave him forever, She cried but she did what he ordered, She found the water world and she was then turned into a swan. I will leave the story so find out more in this story yourself. At the end he got his eyeball but still could not see but when he almosts destroys them Kathleen and Teddy boght back his daghter and she gives back his heart, And then he can see! And also the wolf's become Merlin and Morgen. My opinion is that girls 6+ and boys 7+ will enjoy this.

Anyone who loves adventure will love this book. Winter of the Ice Wizard by Mary Pope Osborne is #32 in The Magic Tree House Series. Jack, Annie, and the Ice Wizard are the main characters. The setting is in a frozen kingdom in the winter. The main problem in this book is when Jack and Annie try to find the eye-ball without getting killed by the wolves. At the end of the book you will find out who the wolves are.

In the begining of the story Jack and Annie get a letter signed by Merlin saying that he needs help. Next, The Ice Wizard gave Jack and Annie a wind-string so when they got in the sled they could untie one knot, move slowly at the beginning and then they would get faster and faster.

The theme in this book is don't skip steps - just follow them. This book reminded me of spoiled people who can't do anything by themselves. Girls ages 8-10 and boys in grades 3-4th would love this book.
