McElligot's Pool

I think this book is very good because it shows all the posibilaties that you can find in McElligot's Pool... from a short fish to a fish that is many times as big as a whale that it makes a whale look like a tiny sardine! I also think that this is an amazing book because it makes you think that a lake, pond, or pool may be connected to the sea and that you can get any type of fish from the gulf coast or anywhere. I would recomend this book to anyone because it is really creative, imaginative, and entertaininG!

A delightful book...one you will enjoy reading and sharing over and over, both children and adults. It is best when read to/with your child, grandchild or someone. A wonderful gift...I gave a copy to my 26 year old "fisherman" son, inscripting "to the most optimistic fisherman I know and love." Dr. Suess does his usual job of making you feel good, light and joyful. Last, but not least, it promises the imagination of any reader will expand and dwell in the happiest expectations.

Childhood Memory

I grew up on Dr Seuss books, I doubt there is a child alive that at sometime in their lifes as read a Dr Seuss book.
This one is my favorite but also the hardest to find. In fact I been looking for this book for years because of the happy memory I have from it.
When I was young my father had taken fishes from this book and painted them on the bathroom wall at the college family housing we lived in.
My father is a painter about other things he does.
Even after we left they from what I had heard had kept up this wall of fish.
There was the goldfish with big long beautiful tail, the eel and even in the middle of the wall there was the worm looking
at everything with that wide eyed looked he had. The wall was done with loving care for a childhood story that was my father's
favorite from when he was growing up. It was done in the colors from the book. Dr. Seuss books stay with you,
it doesn't matter which one you read I bet you know that book
by heart!
Never take away the joy of reading from a child and if you can, start them off by reading to them a Dr. Seuss book!
Now excuse me I have a whale of a tale to tell about what I caught today in McElligot's Pool!

Wonderful Story I had somehow missed

I thought I knew all the Dr. Seuss books, but this one came to my attention recently and I had never heard of it before. I bought it immediately in order to read it to my youngest daughter before she outgrows children's books. She loved the story and I had one more wonderful message to give her from Dr. Seuss, "Keep thinking of all the wonderful things that are possible!"

One of my favorites

This is my favorite Seuss book (yes, I say that about all of them). Year after year I buy this for my friends' kids, but I think it's a great book for an adult library, too.

Wonderful story

I have enjoyed this story since I was a child & am now 66 years old. I believe this is one of Dr. Seuss's first books published. Just had to replace my old copy after hurricane Katrina.

I love this book!

McElligot's Pool was one of my favorite books growing up and now I can read it to my girls. Now they love it as much as I do!
