I highly recommend the book "The Highly Sensitive Child" by Elaine Aron to get a different perspective (more positive) on the out of sync child.

As a teacher I found that this book had many fun and functional activities. I do wish this book had more activities for older (teenage) students with moderate to severe disabilities; but, a great book overall.
Best Book for Sensory Integration out there!!

I *LOVED* this book. It was such a quick read that I got through it in two days, *with* two kids underfoot, but there certainly was no lack in valuable content to read. This has transformed the way that I understand and work with my daughter, and she has had a diagnosis for sensory integration disorder for years! I reccommend this to *any* parent, even those without sensory kids....
Best resource for activities I've found!

The Out-of-Sync Child presents activities that parents of kids with Sensory Integration Dysfunction can do at home with their child to strengthen their child's abilities-and have some fun together along the way.

I purchased this book on a referral from an occupational therapist. The book was an excellent purchase. So many suggestions in the book use simple household items. There is no need to spend a lot of money to creat anything in the book. The book also gives alternative ideas, too! My son, who the book was suggested for, and my daughter (5)love the projects!
Great book!

I am a special education teacher for the severely disabled and find the book to be almost my bible. Has many great ideas for all of my students.
Great play ideas for child with autism!

Since most children who are autistic also have sensory integration dysfunction, this book is key in helping your child develop. There are a lot of great ideas in the book that you can do at home or to suggest to your childs school. One of my favorite parts of this book is the chart that lists each activity and what sensory system it will help. Carol Stock Kranowitz has really opened my eyes on how I can help my son navigate in a world that he doesn't completely understand.
Fantastic Book!!!

This book is like an instruction manual for a child with developmental delays. It explains why a child does a lot of the things they do, like falling down, and what you can do to help. Things to help with speech delays, etc. Also, a great reference book to go back to read.
