A gentle, fun story kids will relate to.
2007-01-06
The school on Elephant Island is holding a talent show and everyone's excited and making plans - all except for Ella, who helps others plan but doesn't know what to do, herself. Does she have any talent at all? Ella's search for a unique gift makes for a gentle, fun story kids will relate to.
Keep the Ella series going!

I bought the first Ella book three years ago as a gift for a friend whose daughter's name was Ella. I read it and decided my daughter needed one as well. The second and now this book both are as good. Ella is a sweet, considerate and helpful friend throughout the series. In this book, she is trying to figure out what her talent is, and then discovers it just by being helpful. We can't wait until the next one!
Another charmer!

The D'Amico's have brought us another wonderful Ella book! The innocent charm of the elephant folk bring a sweetness to the three books that I just love! Steven D'Amico's stunning artwork is the perfect complement to Carmela D'Amico's sensitive handling of another life-lesson story that all children can relate to and enjoy. My granddaughters both love these books and can hardly wait for the next one! Read them all if you get the chance!

Once again the D'Amico's have made it easy for me to choose gifts for all the little ones in my family! Ella Sets the Stage is a wonderful tale, beautifully told and illustrated and addresses the desire we all have to discover our special talent. It's easy to see why Ella has become a favorite with all of the children I enjoy reading to.
A Round of Applause!

Carmela and Steve have done another outstanding job with "Ella Sets the Stage"! The message is timeless, and one every child wants to hear - we all have special talents to celebrate! The illustrations are charming with just enough detail to keep you interested but not be too cluttered. Lola the monkey is a fun new character in the book that kids will enjoy. My great niece loves Ella and I'm excited to give her this new book for Christmas!

Ella Puts Friendship First!

This story is superb in conveying the message that no matter what we do in life, it's helping others and being a good friend that matters most. The story is funny and entertaining and Ella, center-stage, keeps it sweet!
A bit of a letdown after the first two books
2008-05-20
This book is far from bad - the illustrations are well done, and it has a positive message - but it's not nearly as good as the first two books. There are too many side characters, some of the pages just seem like filler, and the use of her hat is forced and un-magical.
If you can only buy one Ella book, get the second one, "Ella Takes the Cake". My daughter loves the map.
Wonderful, well-imagined picturebook series

I really love the "Ella" series... The books are nice and sweet, and presents a marvelously imagined, self-contained world that will strongly appeal to little kids. It has a similar feel to the "Curious George" and "Babar" books, except without all the weird, disturbing undertones that make those classics a bit troublesome. A great choice for some fun books that you don't have to worry about. (ReadThatAgain)
Great book for stage fright

Great book. We read this with our kindergarten-aged son because he was terrified of his school's upcoming performance. We even bought a few copies for his teachers and they agreed to let him, like Ella, serve the production behind the scenes. He had a blast and didn't feel left out at all... thanks to Ella.
Wonderful story.....believe in yourself

Cute, animated story that demonstrates to readers of all ages that if you put your mind to what ever is your trying to do, you'll figure out the answer. It's about the journey and the lessons along the way. Easy book to engage kids into; identifying with Ella, etc. Fun!
