Not the same as the big books

We were a little disappointed with this book and a couple of the other board books in this series. Our one-year-old son LOVES the full size "How Do Dinosaurs" story books, but he hardly pays attention to the board books.

First of all, the words and rhymes aren't as clever. Maybe the concept of counting or colors just isn't as good of a material as going to bed, eating your food, or going to the doctor.

Second, the books are short and the artwork is very scaled down and much simpler. My son loves the artwork in the bigger books but the white background in these is kind of boring.

Maybe time will tell, but he is getting past the board book stage and I am just not sure that these books will hold the attention of kids who are at an age for learning colors or numbers. I wish there was a full-size version, and I wish I had known the content of the board books was not as good as the big books. Now YOU do!

Although "How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?" is still my favorite of the Jane Yolen/Mark Teagues dinosaur series, this book is great! My daughter (and I!) really enjoy the illustrations and the darling text. Highly recommend!

Have a little one who loves dinosuars? The entire "How Do Dinosaurs...." series is great! Little ones will love looking at the pictures. This is a super way to learn colors, learn to count, etc.

I am a story book reader volunteer for the head start preschool program. All of the how do dinosaurs do books have captivated my preschoolers and at the same time they are learning good moral character and proper manners. I believe I have all of them and feel every penny was well worth the spending.

This book was great! My boys and I enjoy the entire series of Dinosaur How To books and are well on our way to collecting the whole set.

As good as the other "How Do Dinosaurs..." books

My three year old likes all these books. They aren't too dull to read either for the parent.

Great series

This is a pretty good book. My son doesn't like it as much as Goodnight & Food. I don't really think it is a good tool for teaching colors if all you do is read the story. You have to linger on the pages and do that yourself, and we all know that all the kids want to do is flip to the next page as fast as possible.

Great present for 3 yr old.

I gave this to my nephew who just turned 3. He and all his cousins are into Dinosaurs right now, so he loves the book. His mom was happy, cause all the other books he has on Dinosaurs are reference style books and to old for him. She says it is great that there is so many books in this series. She used to have to look at the same book over and over again making up a story to go along with the pictures.

My nephew is just learning to read and this book has gotten him hooked !

This is not a good choice if your trying to teach your kids their colors

I deliberately chose this book because my son loves dinosaurs and I thought it would be a great way to teach him his primary colors. The dinosaurs filled most of the pages and the items that were used for the "color" were so small that you have to point them out to the child. I won't return it because of the return shipping costs Amazon charges, but I certainly wouldn't recommend this to anyone else.
