Editorial Review
Now in a fully updated Third Edition, The Handbook of Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorders has, since the first edition, become the most influential reference work in the field of autism and related conditions. In two volumes, this invaluable reference provides a comprehensive review of all information presently available about these disorders, drawing on findings and clinical experience from a number of related disciplines such as psychiatry, psychology, neurobiology, pediatrics, etc.

Weak on adolescence, but otherwise excellent 2007-12-11
I am a parent of a young adult with high functioning autism. We used this book as our textbook in a survey of autism class at Jhons Hopkins University. This book is excellent, except for the sections on adolescence and young adulthood. These sections are very weak because research in these areas is sparse. For readers interested in adolesence, I would instead buy any book by Brenda Myles, Phd.

Fantastic Resource on Autism 2006-06-30
Well written and referenced within chapters and volumes. All you need to know regarding current research and best practice in the field of Autism. Highly recommend.

Superb overview of research as it stands 2006-01-15
Allowing for the inevitable time lag between copy editing, proof reading and final publication, this two volume set is as near as anyone will get at present to comprehensive state of the art reveiew of trends in research and therapy. Having digested the previous version - one volume with a blue cover - I was a little sceptical about the added-value that any new edition might bring. Honestly, I could not have been more wrong. There is a great deal more orgnaic science in this volume and the sections of therapy and interventions are well worth reading carefully. This review is not about the content of the book, more a case of witnessing that if you have bought the blue book, you should buy this set.
