a bit complicated for a 2 year old

this is a neat book, but way too in-depth for our 2 year old. we were searching for good books to help him understand what to expect with our new baby coming. i recommend this one for older kids (4+).
MUST HAVE FOR SIBLING TO BE

THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK FOR PREPARING OUR 2 YEAR OLD AND 4 YEAR OLD SONS FOR THE ARRIVAL OF THEIR BABY BROTHER.
IT HAS PICTURES OF THE BABY DEVELOPING FROM EMBRYO TO 40 WEEK GESTATIONAL AGED BABY. THE STORY INCLUDES MOMMY'S GROWING BELLY, DOCTORS VISITS WHERE THE OLDER SIBLING HELPS GET THE BABY'S HB WITH THE DOPPLER, GETTING THE SIBLINGS BABY THINGS OUT FOR THE NEW BABY, TO GRANDMA COMING OVER WHEN MOMMY AND DADDY HAVE TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL, GRANDMA MAKES COOKIES AND FORTS WITH THE SIBLING, MOMMY, DADDY, AND BABY SISTER COME HOME.
AFTER READING THIS BOOK...EVERY TIME WE WENT TO SEE THE MIDWIFE MY SONS HAD TO HELP WITH THE DOPPLER, IT REALLY MADE THEM FEEL A PART OF THE PREGNANCY.
THIS BOOK IS STILL A FAVORITE TO READ AND THE BABY IS 23 MONTHS. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE WHO IS PREGNANT WITH OTHER CHILDERN.
Terrific!

This a a SUPER choice for little ones preparing to become older siblings. Although somewhat detailed with regard to "mommy's womb", "umbilical cord" and "baby's development" still enthralling to my 3 year old. She LOVES this book.
The art is great and the book helps the little one to feel like they can really play a special part in the new baby's life. It even focuses on nursing and the benefits behind it. Good for you Lizzy Rockwell!
I highly recommend this one. The best I have found. There are not many choices out there unfortunately.

This book has been a good one for my 2 year old. It has some nice pics of baby in mommies belly which at least helps my son articulate that his baby brother is on mommies belly--not that he really gets it, yet!
Okay choice for a new sibling

My son is 2 1/2 and I felt this book was a little more graphic than I would have liked for his age. I know this manufacture states for 4+ but I would have kept it if the illustrations were different because he did understand the context just fine and seemed to enjoy it.
Inappropriate content

Now in paperback, a picture book, told from a child's perspective, about what to expect when Mom's expecting.
Great images and storyline a toddler can relate to!

There's nothing quite like having your 2-year-old (25 months) turn to you and say, "Baby growing Mama belly? Bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger, now ready come out!", after reading her new book with you.
We got this book for my daughter a month or two ago (I'm just over 6 months along now) and she fell in love with it. We read it several times a day for weeks, until she had the whole story memorized, and started "reading" it by herself. It shows cartoon-like illustrations of a Big Brother, pregnant mommy, and daddy and grandparents. There is one picture that shows the baby growing inside mommy's belly that I think is so wonderful for a toddler to see. Even if they don't entirely understand what's happening, I think seeing the baby inside mommy's big tummy in the book is a very helpful image to connect with their own mommy's big belly and the baby they are told is inside.
Great book, my favorite of the handful that we purchased. (New Baby is great too!)
Keeping it real

Bought this book on a whim, walking through Barnes and Noble, to prepare my 2 1/2 year old son for the new arrival. It turned out to be even better than I expected. I was worried that the detail and depth that this book went into would be too much for him, but it seems that at his age, the more info, the better. He requests this book almost nightly, and loves when I change the names in the book so that it's appropriate for our family. As a mom, I really appreciate that this book covers a lot of what will be really happening, so that nothing really comes as a surprise to him once baby gets here - things like, the umbilical cord scab, baby crying, breastfeeding, sponge baths... etc. It also gives a thorough background of baby's development, which is a key concept to understanding that at some point, Mom's belly will soon give way to a sibling. The author isn't vague nor does she use alternate terms for things, or attempt to "dumb it down" at all. Thanks to the great pictures, even the most complicated things like "umbilical cord" is pretty easy for my son to understand. Will definitely be recommending this book to all my mom friends expecting another little one.
Great book

I bought several books to prepare my son (almost 2) for the arrival of his little sister. This was the best book. He enjoyed reading it again and again. It put pictures to our explanation to him that a baby was in mommy's tummy. It is realistic but fun and simple.
Very cute book

We bought this book along with a baby doll for our daughter (2) as she will have a younger sister soon. She likes the book a lot and understands the concept from the book and uses them on her own doll. I think it is a perfectly good help to make little ones understand what is happening to mommy and what will happen when the new baby arrives.
