I Spy Little books
2008-10-08
I got this for my 2 & 3/4 year old daughter and three other I Spy Little Books. She does not need board books now, but she likes to "read" them to her almost 1 year old brother. She will just leave them on the floor when she is done so they needed to be strong enough for him to chew on and whatever else he tries to do to the books. There is nothing cuter seeing my daughter get a book and make a story from the pictures for her brother. The pictures are simple enough for her to find any of the items listed and any other items we may ask her to find.
love this book

I really like the way this book has text with pictures on one side, and then the I Spy pictures on the other side. It helps kids with the pre-reading skill of matching words with pictures. My son loves the rhymes and the pictures.
Light Rhymes & Bright Colors = Mighty Combinations !

"I SPY" inspires fun for all ages; this time around it will be the perfect gift for a little boy who has a new brother. He can "read" all kinds of stories about the brightly colored objects, and memorize the rhymes as well as help the baby learn numbers. Sharing is important for a boy with a dad in Iraq and a new baby demanding attention.
The "I SPY" books remind many mothers of the Girl Scouts' "Kim's Game" and the tradition of FUN & IMAGINATION lives on. The more fully & enthusiastically parents participate in their children's learning, the greater the benefits to the entire family. These books offer chances for all senses to be used. And the unexpected, unscripted sharings from children open the curtains for moms & dads on new perceptions of abilities & personalities.
What a pay-off! We can't afford for learning to wait for kindergarten years. Encourage kids to share their books whenever & however they can.
Great for detail-oriented kids and vocab building!

My two boys, ages 3 and 2, both pull this book off the shelf over and over. I use it to teach the younger one new vocabulary (both in English and Spanish) and the older one to continue to practice his numbers (also in both languages), as well as colors. It's a great addition to the workbook Flip Flop Spanish, and also just for fun.., my littlest, a one-year-old girl, even looks at the pages and will sit with the boys to watch them. They're sturdy pages, full of all KINDS of things. The kind of book you find something new each time you open it. It has little lists to find items as well.
One of the best books we own

My 15 month old son absolutely *loves* this book, and I do too. The pictures are very interesting with lots of easily identifiable items in them for kids to pick out. (He has learned quite a bit of vocabulary from this book and practiced words he already knows--ball, clown, train, etc.) One problem that I have found with a lot of books for babies and young children is that the rhyme schemes and rhythm of the text are often pretty wonky. Not so in this case. This book is beautifully written. The rhymes are fun and easy to read. Highly reccommended!!

The fourth book in the I Spy Little Book series is a delightful learning game for preschoolers. Simple rhymes introduce toddlers to the concept of numbers, and bright picture clues allow little ones to have fun with the I Spy hunt as they practice visual discrimination and object identification. An engaging, age-appropriate leaning tool, this book features photographs from I Spy School Days that have been specially cropped for the boards book format. Learning has never been more fun!Age: 2,3,4,5 Manufacturer: Scholastic
A fun loving introduction to numbers

My fisrt I-SPY book for my 16 month old boy and he loved it. Over the months he has grown to really like this book and now he has become familiar to the objects and the numbers within the book.
It is a great learning opportuntiy for him everytime he opens this book. Now he is 18 months old and sometimes I see him sitting on his own reading this book. And we hear him call out the animals & objects. Saying the numbers for him is difficult but I really like how the author has reading on one page to introduce the number and then I would ask my son to find the number on the other page.... he loves it when he finds the numbers or objects...he really enjoys it.
The fact the book is hard back it has survive allot of journeys, left in the garden, friends house and still looks perfect.
Truely an overall fun book to introduce any young child to numbers.....I hope the other I-SPY books live to this this expectation as I am about to purchase another 1 or 2 of them.
Fun to do but a bit too easy for my toddler

My 2 year old has used several of the other I Spy board books and has found them entertaining. This version, while fun, is much simpler than the others we have read (Little Wheels, Little Animals). We're actually moving onto some of the non-board books for more searching fun.
The pictures in this book are less "crowded" so it's not as easy to pick out additional items for the child to find. I believe that Little Wheels remains our all-time favorite -- we're still finding new items each time we read it (such as the footprint in the sand).
It's an okay book, but not as challenging as some of the others.
The "I Spy" series of books is great

This book is perfect for youngsters learning their numbers. (It's even good just as a picture book for infants.) My son memorized the numbers 1-9 using this book by the time he was 18 months old - and as a 3 year old he still LOVES this book. The pages have large numbers and colorful pictures that are just right for a toddler's attention span. And the size of the book makes it east to take along to a restuarant, the doctor's office, in the car, etc. I highly recommend this book.
An entertaining little book for learning numbers.

Learning numbers becomes a fun activity with this book. Every page has many colorful items to search for which will capture the interest of a child for a long time. My two year old daughter greatly enjoys reading this book over and over again. The book is also popular with older children due to its fascinating pictures.
