Editorial Review
For a little one who is reluctant to go to bed, sometimes a silly book is just the ticket. And when it comes to silly books, Sandra Boynton is the undisputed queen. In
The Going to Bed Book, an ark full of animals watches the sun go down and then prepares for bed. They take a bath ("in one big tub"), find pajamas, brush their teeth, do exercises up on deck (imagine an elephant jumping rope, a moose lifting weights, and a pig doing handstands), and finally say good night.
The moon is high. The sea is deep.
They rock
and rock
and rock
to sleep.
Boynton's inimitable animal characters have graced the pages of scads of picture books over the years. She has an extraordinary knack for knowing what appeals to small children: simple rhymes, goofy animals in goofy settings, and sweet, comforting stories. This book, along with her many other board-book titles (
Moo, Baa, La La La!,
But Not the Hippopotamus, and others) will surely remain a favorite. (Baby to preschool)

Another great book by Sandra Boynton

I love this book. I love to read it to my little boy before we go to bed. It is a nice, short, sweet little book going through the bedtime routine of a bunch of cute little animals. It rhymes and flows well. I really have nothing bad to say about any of Sandra Boynton's work. In the three years we've had it the cover has worn a lot, but the inside pages have held up really well and are in great condition.
Cute!

Cute bedtime book! My child liked it, but we lost it while traveling already :( I'll have to pick up another copy sometime.

We like most of Sandra Boynton's books. This, is not my favourite but we were looking for bedtime books so this one works well for that. I just hope the baby outgrows it before I have to explain why they go exercise AFTER they get ready for bed - LOL

Beautiful! An instant hit with my 9 month old grandson, who loves books but is already selective. Simply written, illustrations perfect and capture the story. Loved it.
The book I remember most from my childhood

There is something about this book that has stuck with me for years. I'm almost 30 years old, and still the words "to take a bath in one big tub with soap all over-scrub, scrub, scrub!" are as clear to me as they were when I was about five years old. This is just a wonderfully simple and fun book that I imagine most kids would want to read every single night before bedtime like I did. Clearly the benefits of storybook time with kids works! I highly recommend!

A Bedtime Classic

All three of my children memorized this book before they could speak! They mimed brushing their teeth, scrubbing in the tub, and rocking to sleep. Sandra Boynton is awesome! A fun little rhyming book that is perfect for bedtime.
Great for infants!

My daughter LOVES this book! She is 4 months old, and we have been reading it to her for a month now as part of the "going to bed" routine. It is simple and fun, and the rhyme includes things she can relate to - taking a bath, getting pajamas on (both of which are also part of her bedtime routine), etc. Even when she is fussy, her face lights up when we get this book out, and she quiets down for one run through. She has several other bedtime books that are very popular, but she will not sit through them. Most are too long for an infant, or have content that is not as meaningful to her.
This has a permanent place in our bedtime routine

All of Sandra Boynton books have become favorites of my 2.5 year old. He knows them by heart and recites them. Our only problem is making him chose only 2 before bed. If he had his way, we would have to read all of them at least 3 times each!
Toddler loves it!

I bought this item well before my son started appreciating books. And now that his love for books increase, he understands that he can pick own books to read before bed, this has been one of the most consistent one he picked.
Always the last one before we turned of the bed.
The word phrasing is great and catchy enough for a toddler to pick up and repeat.
