Editorial Review
For all his one-liners about big-time eating, George Foreman is a symbol of great food coupled with great nutrition. That his 45-year-old body has been able to endure boxing matches with fighters half his age is a tribute to hard work and careful nutrition--especially low-fat cooking. In his new, user-friendly cookbook, George explains how to prepare hearty, wonderful meals that won't stress the waistline. Illustrations.

Buy "Grill Power" book Instead!!!! by Holly Rudin-Braschi 2002-01-04
Just purchased the George Foreman Grill, and I am really pleased with it. So, now I need a good cookbook! ...and no, it is NOT true that indoor grilling is the same as outdoor cooking.

It seems a lot of folks were hoping the Foreman book would guide them in the use of the Foreman Grill. Alas, not so....

Instead of the Foreman book, these folks need to immediately purchase the following book: "Grill Power: Everything you need to know to make delicious, healthy meals on your Indoor Electric Grill", by Holly Rudin-Braschi.

This "Grill Power" book is well-written, well-organized, fun to read, and very detailed...and is designed specifically for cooking with Indoor Grills! "Grill Power" also includes very important information about grill safety and avoiding food poisoning with an indoor grill. "Grill Power" provides info on: design and use of different types of indoor grills; indoor grill cooking times for all kinds of meats, fish, poultry, pork, vegetables, and fruits on different types of grills; information on marinating, rubs, and spices; plus recipes and tips on how to best use grills in the home based on literally YEARS of experience by the author.

Happy Grilling!

Love the grill! The book is not bad either. 2001-07-14
I was surprised by comments that this book isn't relevant to the George Foreman grill and that it doesn't tell you how long to cook on it. I don't think this is true at all. As everyone knows, grilling mostly involves a good rub or marinade for the meat and grilling it for the right length of time. I have this book and every recipe clearly tells you how to prepare the rub/marinade and how long the preparation and grilling times are! In fact, the preparation and cooking times are printed in orange ink and are hard to miss since the ingredients and recipe steps are in black ink.

There are two cooking times listed for almost every recipe - one for cooking on a charcoal grill, AND one for cooking on an electric grilling machine (obviously, the G.F. grill.) These grilling times are repeated within the recipe steps and there are tips on how to watch/test for doneness. Only four recipes aren't suitable for the electric grill (Texas Beef Ribs, BBQ Drumsticks, Roasted Garlic and Roasted Red Peppers). So don't think this book doesn't have instructions for the G.F electric grill, it does.

This book has about 35 pages of general grilling and healthy eating information and about 130 pages of recipes. There are recipes for burgers and sandwiches, kabobs, steaks, spareribs, pork and lamb chops, chicken breasts, seafood and vegetables. I haven't tried all the recipes but my husband and I enjoyed the ones I've made so far. The recipes are relatively easy to prepare even if you're not a gourmet chef. [ I'm not! ;) ] As with any recipe, you just need to have the right ingredients on hand, most of which you probably already have if you like to cook (herbs and spices, vinegars, honey, mustard, lemon juice, garlic, wine, soy sauce...) There are a few fancier recipes that require a bit more time and effort, but the majority of the recipes are simple and can be done in 15-30 minutes (not counting marinade time.)

PS: The grill was made by Salton in 1994 and George Foreman started endorsing it in 1995. This book came out later in 1996, and I do think it was written with the grill in mind. (In fact, my copy of the book came free with my jumbo grill!) I think they just made the book more general so that people without the G.F. grill can use it too. I'm happy with this book but if you're unsure, check it out first at the library!

not simple enough 2000-04-07
I was looking for simple recipes like cooking brats if you can. I just want to know if there is a book that shows what you can cook on the machine and how long.

The Grill is great- The book is great too 2000-02-03
I love George Foreman's grill too, however I think that most people assumed that the book went with his popular grill. I think you will find that the book is awesome if you don't place any "grill expectations" on it. He is fun, and don't let anyone tell you this is not a good book.

misleading title 2005-10-24
For a book called 'Knock Out the Fat', it is amazing how many recipes are included that have high amounts of fat and calories. Do not buy this book for low fat recipes. Buy it for recipes to use on indoor grill.

Grilling Made Easy 2005-09-20
I am enjoying using the recipes and tips about grilling. The recipes are easy to prepare and can be cooked on any type of grill whether indoor or outdoor.

There is an excellent variety of all kinds of meat, poultry and fish recipes, also vegetarian because sometimes I just feel like making something different.

I am so glad I bought this book.

surprizingly excellent! 2003-04-14
I bought this after I bought the grill. Having tried the recipes that came with the george foreman grill and finding them excellent, I decided to invest in a whole george forman cookbook.

The marinades are excellent! Many have few ingredients and maximum taste. While they are helpful if you have the grill they are excellent even if you don't. Marinades are a wonderful way to grill, in general. Some of them lend themselves even to panfrying, depending on the cut of meat or poulty. While you cant use bone-in meats in the GF grill, you can use these recipes with bone-in cuts and use an alternate cooking method (grilling, broiling or baking for chicken).

This was a big surprize! At first I thought it was going to gimick-y and just a cookbook capitalizing on the GF name. But it is a *study* cookbook in its own right. excellent.

His other book is better for the Foreman Grill 2003-01-07
If you are looking for recipes to use on your Foreman grill pass by this book and get "George Foreman's Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine Cookbook" ISBN# 1929862032 by George Foreman & Connie Merydith; Paperback - June 2000, Pascoe Publishing. Its written specifically for the Foreman grill and will get you the confidence to experiment on your own.

A TASTY ONE FROM GEORGE 2002-12-29
With this book, George Foreman demonstrated that his strong hands, which are famous for delivering painful punches, are capable of delivering delicious dishes. Cherie Calbom was his 'corner-man' in this fat-fight.
This cookbook is very practical in outlook: employing a step-by-step method. It explained the fundamental routines of tabling low-fat grills (and barbecue). It has a well-balanced approach: providing good tuition on both recipes and their healthiest mode of preparation.
The book will bring fun to your kitchen, and smile on your table. However, if you are interested in continuous experiments, its 176 pages may not be enough as to fulfill all your grilling desires. Support it with a more extensive cookbook for the best result.
