Editorial Review
Olivia remembers her trip to the circus very well. The performers were out sick, so she had to do everything. She...
- rode on a unicycle
- jumped on a trampoline
- juggled five balls!
- tamed lions
- and flew through the air.
Step into the ring with Olivia, where the lights are dim, the color soft, and a little girl's imagination is the main attraction.

Whoops! It's blank
2006-10-27
Well I ordered this for my granddaughter as she loves Olivia. To my surprise (thanks to ordering in hurry I guess) I received it today and discovered it is a BLANK BOOK. This is not the story, it is just a journal. A four-year-old would not want it. This is just to warn otheres to read what it is you are ordering so no one else is disappointed. Now I have to return and re-order.
More fun from our favorite little pig

See my review for Olivia, the same great qualities (and occasional detractions) are continued. This time around Olivia's adventure is in her head but it hardly matters. We also get to meet her new baby brother along the way. Of note. my daughter initially was scared of Olivia's mother's shadow which comes across as very intimidating. She is now over that but it may scare little ones.
I L. O. V. E. IT!

Olivia is awesome and one expects the sequels to "classics" to be as good or better than the first, this one is!!! I LOVE IT and you will too!
Same Humorous Olivia

My 2-year-old son loves the first Olivia book and was thrilled when we found this one at the library. He had it memorized after the first day, so I thought it was worth adding to his collection. He frequently requests "Queen of the Trampoline". I like that in Ian Falconer's books there is some humor directed at the parents, too.
My least favorite

This is my least favorite of the Olivia books. I think it went too far with Olivia's exageration. However, it's an Olivia book, and you've just got to love the simplicity and humor of everything Olivia. I would recommend "Olivia and the Missing Toy" instead.
Cute, but not my favorite Olivia tale

The first two pages are the best in "Olivia Saves the Circus." That aside, the basic story is that Olivia, during show-and-tell, "embellishes" her trip to the circus. The drawings are fabulous as usual, but the plotline is a little dry. Still, my daughter loves it because it does capture the spirit of Olivia, though the story is very one-dimensional compared to the other Olivia books. And check out Olivia's "Remember the Maine" tatoo - it's a hoot!
My dad and I love this book!

The illustrations are very vivid. Ian Falconer can really think like a kid. A lot of times authors do that but its a little much.
Great Book

My daughter and I love reading Olivia books. The stories and the illustrations are great and very funny.
Worthless
2007-03-11
This book, as the other Olivia books, is witty and creative. Unfortunately, the book is rendered worthless and inappropriate by the poor content. Olivia lies. Yes, all children enjoy fantasy, but when she's directly asked for the truth, she lies. Again, most kids will try that at least once. But for Olivia, there are no consequenses. What an awful message for children.
It gets worse. She shows a very negative attitude about her "boring uniform" that she has to wear to school. What a brat. And at the end she intentionally defies her mother, and of course, no consequenses. Blech. It's worthless, which is too bad because this author definately has talent.
Not as good as hoped

LOVED Olivia and the Missing Toy, wished I'd read Olivia Saves the Circus in a bookstore because I wouldn't have bought it. Very disappointed.
