2003-08-15I particularly bought the book because I needed additional training on Active Directory. It has also helped with our DNS and DHCP configuration. Finally I found a book that covers Win2K DNS in good detail and also details how it integrates with AD. After reading the book, I finally fixed our DNS and AD problems. Another highlight of the book for me was his covering disk configurations, roaming profiles and EFS. Lots of expert tips and insights. Again, the book's not an exhaustive reference on the subject but is a solid daily adminstration reference. I highly recommend this book as a primary tool to correctly learn how to admin a Win2K domain.
All of William Stanek's books are great references

Truly the admin bible

When and if you find yourself wondering "how do i do that again?" or "how does that work?" you will need this book. Its small enough to place on your desk and big enough to contain all the information about Windows 2000 as it relates to an administrator.
This book never comes up short in the help department. You cant remember it all and you dont need an 900 page book to remind you. Pick this up and keep it handy. You wont be let down when you need it most.
Not too much of I.T.

Basically has everything starting from users and groups and finishing with DHCP. I definately recommend that book for any junior system administrator out there. When i first looked at the size of that little book i thought that it wouldn't be even worth reading, but when i started reading it i realized that i was definately wrong about it. Good explaination for group policies.
What i like about these books is that they are small and can
easily fit in any bookpack.

For Novice Administrators
2002-06-30
This book is good for novice administrators because by design its intended to only introduce readers to fundamental but necessary skills. Advanced topics like PKI and Certificate Authorities aren't discussed but are for other books targeting a more experienced audience. The book contains many handy tips and notes that supplement the topics discussed. It also contains many helpful screenshots and the topics are organized and easily understood. It doesn't contain a CD-ROM. An electronic version (CD-ROM or online) would have been a great addition but may have drove the price higher. As a desk reference it is quite useful.
A Must Have W2K Tool
2002-05-02
This book has become my constant companion. Small enough to carry around yet crammed full of details about the Windows 2000 OS. There are no fluff words herein -- obviously the author wasn't paid by the word. Simple, concise, detailed information about every aspect of the OS fills this book from cover to cover.
If you are running the Windows 2000 OS, you must have a copy of this book!
