Editorial Review
In this new collection of international folk tales, storyteller Bob Hartman blends familiar stories with little-known tales. Each story has been chosen for its integrity and for its ability to encourage and inspire children who are learning to understand the world around them. It is a captivating anthology that reflects the storyteller’s humor and joy of life, both of which are echoed in Susie Poole’s lively watercolor illustrations.

Great for bedtime
2008-09-22
These stories are a great length for my 4 year olds bedtime routine. I used to get bogged down in extra long stories, but now I can zip through our routine and he's satisfied. The stories are great. There was some repetition in the tiger stories, but beyond that I have no complaints.
A Great Book!

This is one of our new favorite books! My 5 and 3 year old boys absolutely love it! It's enjoyable to read as a parent, too! Highly recommend it!
Great stories, shipping a little slow

These are great international stories with good values. The shipping took forever (3 months?) but it was worth the wait for a unique book.
Great variety of stories

This is a family favorite. My children pick it up often, even if no one is reading to them and look through the pages. I like that some of the stories are old classics, but many are tales I've never read before. The variety is terrific.

We really love this book for bedtimes. It has a great multicultural focus and the stories are engaging and promote good lessons in character training. My kids love them and ask for them over and over again. Definately a keeper!

What a winner!

We checked this book out of the library & I just HAD to get one of my own. I am reading it with my 5-year-old son for the second time through now - we both adore it. It is especially written to be read aloud & you can tell. Charming stories from all over the world give us a glimpse into those cultures. We are buying them for ALL the nieces, nephews and cousins for Christmas this year!!
great read aloud for young and old

These stories are timeless; they relate complex moral truths in a palatable symbolic form. They are well written for interesting and animated storytelling. They are not very long. In a nutshell, this book contains the perfect recipe for my active three-year-old! And you'll love the stories, too!
Wow!

What adorable and likeable stories - my five year old can't get enough of them. Is it a good sign when Mom is sick of reading them because they've been requested so much? This book, and a book of quirky, local bedtime stories from Florida (Bob-Tales by Bob Morgan) are the only two Leslie will let me read to her at night! Buy them both now!!
Great Bedtime Stories

This book contains 40 stories from all over the world -- and they are the perfect length to tell at bedtime, 2-4 pages each. There are selections from Africa, Java, Brazil, Japan, North America, France, Russia, Egypt, Spain, Norway, Wales, Austrailia, Scotland, Puerto Rico, Greece, England, Finland, Germany and India -- and one new selection by the author. However they are all great stories (there isn't even one that I wouldn't want to read to my daughter) with sweet illustrations. You could probably even read 2 or three stories a night in the same time it would take to read a regular story book.
