The book was a Christmas present for my son and I was worried that it wouldn't come on time because I had ordered it very close to Christmas. I was very impressed not only that it came on time but it came before the estimated date of arrival!! Thanks!!

Do Not Open We purchased this book for our two male grandchildren, one is 15 and the other is 8 years of age. They both enjoy the book tremdenously, and I was told it gets dragged all over the house and constantly being used. They challenge each other with information from the book. I am very happy with this selection and wish there were other books like this one to make the kids leave the video games and sit down and read a book and use their imagination.

My 9-year-old got this for Christmas and disappeared in his room for several hours. Now he taunts us with his new knowledge and astounds us with the tidbits he offers us. We have bought several for presents and have heard so many positive things from all recipients. A great book for the 8-12 range and maybe even +/- a couple years. One of these days, I really want to sneak in a take a peek, but I promised him it would be his secret.....

Entertained For Hours

I purchased this for my 9 year old son who loves to read.
I gave it to him at the start of a 13 hour car trip. He read it for the first 5 hours without a peep other than asking for some word definitions. He went back to it for at least another two hours later on and picked it up today after reading it all day yesterday.
I would highly recommend this book for its short but interesting factoids. It is appealing to look at and easy to jump around. The variety of subject matter will have anyone interested.

Talk about a great book to encourage reading and learning - this totally does it!

Less interesting than it seems

Perhaps with kids this book is interesting, but overall it is hard to read, lacks much substance (or research), and is not compelling. If you have read or skimmed other books of "secrets" or how things work, this book will not add much.

This was a birthday present for a grandson. His mom says he spends hours reading it and going back over it. Great present!
