Great Birthday Gift That Never Goes Out of Style!
2006-11-19
I first bought one of these for my then 6 yo son. He enjoyed it so much that I bought one for his friend's birthday. Finally, the light bulb went off and I bought a bunch more to have instant gifts for the plethora of birthday parties he gets invited to during the year. Boy, am I glad I did that! The cost is great, no one else ever gives the same gift, it is easily transportable, doesn't require batteries, entertains for hours without beeping or playing annoying music, and is educational (Okay, I admit that "educational" can be the kiss of death for a kid gift, but The Kids' Paper Air Plane Book is a fun gift that happens to incorporate some educational value, not some geeky educational bore of a toy that is briefly entertaining). Even the stray kid who didn't seem to "get it" at first, soon fell in love with this book. I am about to order 6 more. I need another 2 for my boys (ages 6 and 9) and 4 more as gifts. These never go out of style. BTW, I turn into Cool Mom whenever I am able to help them with any plane struggles. That doesn't happen to my 9 yo anymore. He now even makes his own awesome airplanes out of plain paper, while his non-plane-making peers look on in amazement! Definitely a gift winner! It's also easy to wrap, which is no small thing in this world of oddly-shaped packages.
First Place in Science Fair (for first-graders)

Our seven-year-old boy loves to make these paper airplanes at his desk in his room. The book has so many styles, there are plenty to share with his little sister and brother. He can easily reconstruct the styles in the book on regular sheets of paper.
He even got a first place trophy for his science fair project at school using four different plane ideas from this book. His project was "Does the length of an airplane's wings affect how long (in time) it can fly?"
A great, colorful book.

Fantastic book for kids over 40! (I'm a kid 65 and shared it with a kid who was 80. Lots of fun. Also sharing with my Grandchild, 6 years of age, but needs some help. More fun!
Very good book

Paper Airplanes

Enjoyed the book ... I teach middle school science at an inner city school for poverty level boys, and one of our units is on flight ... we start with paper, "promote" to balsa wood ... then on to Estes Rockets, and finally remote control. This book will definately improve our paper airplane "section!"
Great craft for boys and girls

Most of the planes in the book were very easy to fly, and the children had fun making them. I also liked the extra activities and information included to help them learn more about flying.
Great fun!

My son just turned 8 and has really been having fun with this book recently. He got it as a gift when he was 5 (despite the recommended age range of 9+) and would always get frustrated when he tried to do one himself because he couldn't fold it as precisely as required and then it didn't turn out right. So he lost interest in it, but discovered it again recently - now he can do all of the airplanes himself and is having great fun. He does like to make paper airplanes out of just about anything, but this book has neat patterns and different shapes to try. Fun for littler ones too if they don't mind a grown up helping (and if you don't mind if they squish it after all your hard work!).
Fun, fun, fun

this was a Christmas gift for my 11 yr. old grandson. We have had so much fun doing this together and his father joined in to add even more fun. Winter has flown by much faster with this FAMILY TIME craft project. We are looking forward to logging our flight distances as soon as the weather warms a bit. Quiet time together becames lots of laughs and individual creative juices began to flow. who knew paper airplanes could be so much fun.
More and more paper

The paper in my printer has been stolen, all the loose paper in the house has gone the same route. Flying through the air and landing in various places like behind the couch, under the tables, into the closets, and onto the bookshelves.
good plane designs but didn't like the scary gruesome pictures

They have some planes with preprinted pictures that I would have prefered they left out like a vampire and ghoul. I don't know why they have to make stuff which doesn't need to be scary.
