Editorial Review
You’ve been hearing about the SAT since the day you entered high school. Guess what? It’s time. So when you walk into that testing hall, will it be a case of nerves—or attitude? A guerrilla guide written by six students who destroyed the SAT, Up Your Score combines the best math, critical reading, and essay preparation with the strategies and tips you need to psyche out—and not be psyched out by—The Test. As Sassy magazine said, “It’s everything you need to give ’em hell.”

Best wordlist ever! 2008-01-15
I took the SAT back in 2001, and this book raised my verbal score by close to 170 points. Seriously, I took a practice test, got a 620, spent 3 weeks studying the word lists in this book, took another practice test, got a 790 (I also got a 790 on the real thing). I didn't use anything else. I also didn't learn anything in school because it wasn't in English. This book is awesome. I still remember the words that I learned using this book!

You won't regret it!

Best SAT book 2008-01-15
I took the SAT's the first time 2 years ago when I was a junior and I was to take it again fall of my senior year so I planned to spend summer studying. I took classes at Sylvan learning center (great!) and had Princeton Review's SAT book and book of practice tests, flashcards, and Kaplan's book. I could not find a way to focus for too long with any of those, so I went on Google to search for an SAT book that maybe had some jokes or was a bit entertaining and I ran across this book.

The book teaches you but still takes breaks in between to do have a little cartoon or tell a joke. It is great! They also give really great tips. For the first time I actually found studying for SAT's fun. Also the jokes and everything are a great way to help you remember things. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who is studying for the SAT's! With the SAT classes and this book, my score increased 200 points.

also they have a free thing for you ipod so you can listen to vocab words in a song or something like that.

Hilarious and helpful 2008-01-12
No actual problems in this book, but still very very useful. I used it along with a generic study book for practice problems. It's hilarious, it has a great vocab section, and it teaches you strategies and tricks and tips. My reading score went up to 770 (from 710) the second time I took the SAT, after reading this book.

Outstanding!! 2007-12-28
This is the most helpful study guide I have found for my students in preparing for the SAT. While a very few elitists may regard it as politically incorrect and worthless, it has been very helpful to my students. Moreoever, unlike most other prep-books, it is a fun read! The students actually learn a truth most of us in education have known for a long time--any standardized test is designed to fail its test takers, and there are definite strategies students can use to turn the tables on the test! Bravo!!

My daughter loved it 2007-10-06
A lot of what plays into successful test-taking is attitude. This book builds confidence and shows ways to approach a difficult exam in a positive way. It is a very interesting read, and emphasizes the importance of preparation to success.

If you are looking for practice exams, however, this is not your book.

Intelligent and humorous 2007-09-27

Very useful and entertaining book 2007-08-08
This is a very good book. It is funny and smart. It shows you how to beat the SAT without freaking yourself out.
To me, the book covers the materials just right wihout going overemphasizing certain topics.
Even though the book doesn't have practice tests, it is filled with good strategies. It even shows you how to concentrate for the SAT, which I think is really important, since you're going to sit in the same place for more than 3 hours.

Best. SAT Review Book. Ever. 2007-07-31
When studying for the SATs, I read this book, and this book alone, and got a 1500 (back when it was out of 1600). Forget Kaplan, forget Princeton Review, this book will teach you all the tricks you need to know, and keep you interested while doing it.

I read this book even though I didn't have to take the SATs 2007-07-28
This book was so entertaining and actually fun to read that I have gone back and re-read it in my free time. The advice they give is uncommonly good and I continue to utilize skills from this book in my junior year of college. It's also a great read because the authors detail the sorts of bewildering, obtuse questions that are in the test (and tests like it) year after year. The sorts of questions that totally stump anyone who doesn't already know the trick to solving it. It made answering such rather unfair questions a snap. I ended up only having to take the ACT, but the advice in this book is priceless for any test-taker.

Best SAT Review Book Ever Written 2007-07-24
This is the most engaging and entertaining SAT review book that I have ever seen. It is a bit irreverant and written in a tongue in cheek style which is exactly what would capture a teenager's attention. "Up Your Score" was recommended by a learning center for my teenage son, and we had so much fun reviewing the vocabulary that even four years later he still remembers the hilarious examples. I'd say the book did its job.
