Fabulous book!

I reviewed this book before my purchase as a gift to my son in law. He's about to become a father...The contents are comprehensive and full of very good tips and insights along each stage of development...I'll give you the full review after he reads it all...
He Has The Experience And The Ability 2003-08-17
Easily out does any of the fathering books on the market. It is to the point, smart, funny and accepting. It gives direction and guidence without attitude. I appreciate the author's style and the ease at which I can quickly read the book. It is a book written for men, by a man (no co-authors) with plenty of children (unlike some books touting expertise without substance) and experience. Outstanding.

Well, I really think I needed this book. I was anxious to say the least but when the baby arrived, i had no idea what to expect or what to do. My wife's books did not apply to me. I had a lot of mixed feelings about the whole thing but could not tell anyone about it. Dr. Goldman's book was the only one that seemed to let me feel what I wanted or needed to feel. I wasn't filled with joy automatically. A lot of people have been attacked for having one feeling or another or not having certain feelings-especially in the delivery room. I am in love with my baby now but I'm glad that it's ok to let those feelings develop without the guilt. That's not to say that the book is full of doom and gloom--it's NOT--it was ME that was full of doom and gloom...at first. There were some things in the book that made it ok for me to have mixed thoughts for a while. The book was a breath of honest, fresh air!! What a relief. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful for men, great for women!! Gives multiple perspectives on what to do. I loved it and my husband couldn't put it down!!!! Great humor as well! There should be a movie!!!!!!!!

This is a wonderful book, for the holidays and beyond! My husband was "forced" to read this after being in a bit of denial about what having a new baby was going to be like. I tell you, after reading a chapter, he couldn't put it down. Of course I read it too, but then, I wanted to understand parenting from a father's perspective too! It answers questions, gives information and is funny! Dr. Goldman is not at all patronizing. The book is wonderfully honest and he gets the message through very clearly. He writes well so it is very smooth and makes for great through-and-through reading or as a refernce book. It is a great book for men but women would love it as well!!
An Invaluable Guide to Being a Great Dad!! 2002-11-16
I admit that I was nervous when my wife told me she was pregnant. That's ok! I went right out and happened upon this book-How lucky!! I had looked through others but Dr. Goldman seemed to know what I was thinking. He was not afraid to take on the real issues effecting you, your wife and new baby. The book is funny and filled with great, helpful anecdotes. It does not talk down to you and treats you like an equal. I highly recommend this book. I read Mr. Brott's book too and found it kind of simplistic and not very helpful. This book is great in all respects.
What a Wonderful Book for the Holidays and Beyond!!! 2001-12-10
Realistic, loving and beautifully written, Dr. Goldman gets at the essence of fatherhood. He's very funny and should have been a comedian!!! I have read many of these books. This is the best because it tells the truth. Enjoy!!
