Editorial Review
As this enthralling epic nears its climax, the young heroine’s brother discovers his own hidden gift — and the role he must play in battling the Dark.

Hem is a weary orphan whose struggle for survival ends when he is reunited with his lost sister, Maerad. But Maerad has a destiny to fulfill, and Hem is sent to the golden city of Turbansk, where he learns the ways of the Bards and befriends a mysterious white crow. When the forces of the Dark threaten, Hem flees with his protector, Saliman, and an orphan girl named Zelika to join the Light’s resistance forces. It is there that Hem has a vision and learns that he, too, has a part to play in Maerad’s quest to solve the Riddle of the Treesong. As THE CROW continues the epic tale begun with THE NAMING and THE RIDDLE, Alison Croggon creates a world of astounding beauty overshadowed by a terrifying darkness, a world where Maerad and Hem must prepare to wage their final battle for the Light.

gift for granddaughter 2008-06-05
My granddaughter(age 14)wanted this book in the worst way, so I ordered it for her. She read this book in 3 days! Now she is asking for more! Apparently this is an excellent book for her to have read it so fast.

Third book in a great series 2008-05-24
This is the third book of an excellent four book fantasy series. Book publishers don't help their own sales by labeling books as for young adults because I am by no means a young adult and I can hardly put this series down. They are written in a female voice, are very creative, and exciting. I am anxiously awaiting book four to be published.

Great Book! 2008-04-15
This book was a fantastic read! It was really easy to get into and the characters are very believable. It is the third book in the Pellinor series, of which I own the other two. It is a great series for young adults to read. The vocabulary is easy to get through and the story line is easy to follow. There is always a feeling of excitement, of what will happen next that captures you and keeps you reading. It was very hard to put down. I would urge anyone to purchase this book!

EXCELLENT! 2008-03-01
I have been a HUGE fan of Alison's after I first read her novel, The Naming. Ever since then I have been hooked on this series, and it even remains today as one of my favorite series of all time. The book opens with Hem, Maerad's brother, who has split from her and traveled to the beautiful city of Turbansk with his mentor, Saliman. But all is not fun and learning for Hem, when the threat of war begins to become a reality. Along with his newfound friend, Zelika, his mentor, Saliman, the white crow, Irc, and other Bards, Hem will travel the landscape into a dangerous child army camp, and even into the heart of The Nameless One's domain. While this book is very depressing and sad, it is shot through with love and compassion, hope and courage. This book is masterfull written, and will quickly win your heart as one of your favorite series.

Where have all the good books gone? Right here! 2007-11-22
We start off with a troubled boy whose past would never be envied and we end with a young man who is strong and knows his purpose. This was a great book, I could barely set it down. The first two, Maerad's books, were awesome but I took to Hem a lot better. He's the rebelious kid in all of us and he seemed to have a little more confidence than Maerad who immediately believes that she's a monster when she makes a mistake while Hem seems to accept his mistakes as being human and goes on without much time to dwell. Overall, this was a great book that I recommend to anyone who has a taste for the epic. I can't wait for the next.

Review for The Crow 2007-10-25
I was a little disappointed when i found out the third book was about Hem and not Maerad, but I had to get it anyway. I'm glad I did, it was just as well written as the two previous books, and just as exciting and real. Alison Croggon does an excellent job of making her characters come to life. I can't wait for the forth book...

Yet Another Masterpiece! 2007-09-22
I have to say that I was nervous about starting this book, knowing that it was written with a boys point of view. However, when I finally started it, I couldn't put it down. This is definately a book worth buying, and shows the strengthes and weaknesses of a young boy named Hem. Despite being an outcast he faces all odds and starts to discover himself, and also realizes that he starts to discover the true meaning of love and loss. He loves his sister, mentor, an untamed young girl, and an outcast white crow, much like himself. He feels many losses and the pains of the war surrounding him, but even with these sadnesses he can't hide who he truly is, which is a born hero, who is worth much more than he knows. To those of you who love the Pellinor series, this is a definite must buy, and those of you who already read this fantastic book, I know you are as anxious as me for the fourth book of Pellinor, The Singing, to come out.
