2002-08-28It is easy to see why Martha Bolton is a writer for comedians. Her humor is wonderful and really makes being over 40 sound hilarious. Her writing is right on the mark and makes those of us who fit into this category feel like we're not alone. My favorite chapter is about HMO's and the waffle iron being used for a mammogram!
There are many books written about the subject but I encourage anyone who is looking for a fun read aabout life after 40 to read this book. For me, I couldn't put it down.
Life After 40 has New Meaning Now!! hahaha

What a great outlook on Life. I Love this book and can not quit laughing about it. Giving a copy to my Mother.[dont know why, I already read and told her 1/2 of it already!] I did laugh out loud while waiting on my van tires to be put on. I am sure the YOUNG GUY doing the work on it thought...that OLD lady must be reading a dirty magizine. I am not what you call a "BOOK WORM", this is the 1st book I could NOT put down. May turn into a book worm if all the aurthors books are filled with this much humor!! P.S. Not giving up my copy because as my memory fades, I may need to re-read!! Just kidding!!{I hope}...
Oh, sure - now I have deeper laugh lines, too!

A lively, entertaining book about middle-age that will prove that laughter and longevity go hand-in-hand.

In her usual fashion, Martha Bolton has once again done what she does best--she leaves you laughing and wanting more. A must-read for women over 40.
Laugh Your Way Through the Shock of Turning 40!

Martha Bolton's writings have always brought a chuckle from deep within my being. When fighting the duldrums, I've picked up a couple of stories that were posted on Focus on the Family by Martha Bolton and my spirits are lifted in no time. Bolton's willingness to get the reader laughing by poking fun at her own experiences is masterful.
This book is a wonderful gift to give to that friend who is about to "roll over the hill." You can help them "roll over the hill" by getting them to roll over in laughter. It doesn't matter what decade one is passing into, 40, 50, 60, the stories are timeless and ageless. We will all read ourselves into the situation that she is writing about. The descriptions she uses are hillarious. Chapter 7, "Changing With the Times," deals with the change of life-menopause--and anyone who has or is experiencing the change of life will thoroughly enjoy this one. You may even be able to laugh yourself right through that hot flash!
Bolton's chapter, "Yo Quiero No Discount," is a story about the time she was given a senior discount at a fast food restaurant at a young age of just over 40. She imagines revenge by paper-cutting the server "to a pulp with my birth certificate!" That is just one example of the humor you will encounter in this book.
If you don't have a friend to give the book to, at least get it for yourself whether you are 30, 40, 50 or older! The humor will be appreciated by anyone at any age.
