For twelve long years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort.

Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter's defeat of You-Know-Who was Black's downfall as well. And the Azkban guards heard Black muttering in his sleep, "He's at Hogwarts...he's at Hogwarts."

Harry Potter isn't safe, not even within the walls of his magical school, surrounded by his friends. Because on top of it all, there may well be a traitor in their midst.

Much better than the 2nd 2009-07-03
This has been the best one (compared to the 1st & 2nd) so far. I liked how there were a few different plots & stories going on at the same time.

harry potter book3 review 2009-06-15
Everything was excelent: received the book in less than a week, I think; It was in excellent shape...it looked brand new; I was expecting a paperback for the price I paid but instead, it was a hardcover!

Great book, great format 2009-05-29

Bridget's review 2009-05-18
How is it that every Harry Potter book I read is better then the one I read before? How does J.K. Rowling do it? I thought the first Harry Potter was so great that there isn't a word to discribe it. Then I read the second one and I'm in awe. The third one is so amazing that I don't want to take the time to write this review, I just want to start on #4. But I can't do that because I have a few books that I have to review and a couple of them I have to have them done on or by a certain date. So my Harry Potter adventure must end here for now. Not to worry though because my husband and I will be watching the movie tonight.

It's Harry's third year at Hogwarts and he cannot wait for school to begin. Living with the Dursley's, Harry's aunt and uncle who are Muggles, which mean that they are normal people, has been a nightmare that Harry has had to endure almost his whole life. Harry's parents were killed by the evil Lord Voldermort who tried to kill Harry, who was just an infant, but failed and in the process lost most of his power. Once Harry found out that he is a wizard and that he gets to leave the Dursley's behind to attend Hogwarts, Harry feels his life will forever change. And it does. Harry has made two very good friends Ron and Hermione who also attend Hogwarts.

Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban prison. Somehow he managed to outsmart the dementors, horrible creatures who literally suck the happiness from those around it. Sirius is the one who sold Harry's parents out and told Voldemort where to find them. And he's coming after Harry.

This is a great read and I recommend it to everyone, young and old.

You'd have to lock me up 2009-05-07
That's the only way you would get me to read the whole of this book.

Honestly !

There was a man - a real grown up adult man reading this book on the tube this morning. As brazen as you like - no shame whatsoever. As bold as brass - reading his little heart out. He believed that what he was doing was acceptable and normal.

IT'S NOT.

Has the whole world gone mad?

For Gawd's sake ! This is a baby book - a tale of wizards with beards, black macs and dodgy 1960 winkle picker boots.

Wake up - snap my fingers and you will awake from the heavy hypnotic state that has ensnared you. One - Two - Three - and awake.

Awaken from your stupor and realise that

IT'S ALL GUFF

HARRY POTTER AUDIO SERIES. 2009-05-02
I have all of the Harry Potter audio series, because I prefer to listen or watch fictional storie than to read them. Just a preference of mine. The audio series is great. I listened to them at home on my back patio and while in the car on a road trip. THEY ARE VERY DETAILED, ENGAGING AND JUST PLAIN FUN TO LISTEN TO.

Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban reviewed by Mia Roman 2009-04-12
This is one of my favourite books by JK Rowling out of all of the other six.I have read all of them starting from Harry Potter and the sorcerers stone when I was six.I am now seven and has completed all of them except The adventures of Beedle and Bard. The whole book is great although I was a bit afraid of Aragog.I think Hagrid is my favourite charecter in this book as well as Sirius Black and and of course Harry.I read this book alone without any help with words. It was a bit creepy when Harry and Ron entered the Forbiden Forest and when they where following the spiders that lead to Aragog, his wife, his children and his gang. The only bit I did'nt like was Sirius Black turning into a dog as well as his living friends turning into animals...e.g Peter Pettigrew turning into Scabbers and Lupin turning into a were wolf. And Harry seeing his dead father in the moonlight as a Stag.

HP Prisoner of Azkaban - best of the series? 2009-04-04
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite of all the HP books. Harry's third year of wizarding school begins in a climate of fear: a mass murderer is on the loose, and all signs indicate Harry is his next target. As if Harry didn't have enough to worry about, between trying to help Hagrid build a case against the execution of a hippogriff named Buckbeak, keeping his eyes peeled for the death omens that seem to be plaguing him, and defending himself from the effects of the horrible, Black Rider-esque Dementors sent to guard the school and track down the killer.

Yet Harry soon learns that he and the escaped murderer are inextricably linked. As the story builds toward their inevitable confrontation, Rowling throws in so many twists and turns that you can't be sure who's on what side, and nothing is what it appears. You won't be able to put this book down from Chapter 17 on, and as soon as you reach the end, you'll read it again.
