Editorial Review
Elizabeth Taylor, Carrie Fisher, Tracey Ullman, and Laura Dern all own her work. Now, in her much-anticipated first book, embroidery pioneer Jenny Hart brings her sublime designs to everyone. Expanding on the offerings of her Stitch-It Kit, Sublime Stitching offers all the instructions, tips, and hip patterns needed to create hundreds of stylish projects. Perfect for stitchers of all experience levels, this charmingly photographed book includes simple directions and inspiring project ideas for stitching up jeans, handbags, neckties, baby bibs, and more. Best of all are the entirely original, ready-to-use iron-on patterns bound in the back. Jenny has included all sorts of delightful designs from cheeky margaritas and maracas to classic teapots and cupcakes. These patterns are easy to remove after using, and a cinch to store in the handy pockets on the inside covers. Believe it or not, each pattern can be used up to nine times. Now that's sublime.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IN LOVE 2008-09-15
I love this book. It is more than I thought I would get. Tons and tons of designs, all in multiple sizes, so I don't have to run to the copier every ten mins. I had the Stitch it Kit, with both sets of instructions, this one has more stitches, that I did not know how to do. If you want to be inspired to create pick this up!!!!

Great title, but prefer the website 2008-06-25
This book has tons of embroidery designs that are fantastic, as well as a comprehensive guide to the basics of embroidery stitches. However, I found that a lot of the designs that were offered in her book weren't as great, for me, as I would've hoped. Overall, I only liked maybe a quarter of the designs to use for myself or family/friends. I have no use for babies or kid patterns, so a lot of those weren't for me. There were also a lot of "standard" designs - which is a good and bad thing. (For example, baby rattles, Scottie dogs, words in script) It's bad because they wouldn't be that hard to find somewhere else, or for free, but this book has all of them in one place to make it almost a beginner's Bible for Basic Embroidery.

[...]

Definitely a great book, I highly recommend it as a go-to guide for basic embroidery designs, with some slightly advanced ones to work up to. If you aren't pleased with all of the patterns in the book, then don't stop there, go to Ms. Hart's website.

I Expected More 2008-06-11
I do like this book, but I have to say that I was looking for more modern themes and thought this book would provide. I was a little disappointed when I thumbed through the transfers and only found a couple that are significant. I have other transfer books for the basic patterns, but this book does provide some basic stitch options and instructions that are helpful.

OK I guess 2008-06-02
This book is everything it says it is and less. Ok it is an ok book. I purchased it for the iron on transfers. First let me say that there are many in the book so I cannot fault them there. I was sadly disappointed though that they were all so outdated. You might as well spend a dollar here and there and buy some of Aunt Martha's iron on transfers. Or better yet, some tracing paper. There isn't anything in this book that you can't doodle yourself. I would say for those just starting out, this would be an excellent sourse of transfers if you like funky little space ships, mariachi dancers and fruit. I did like the martini glasses, lol.

Sublime Says It 2008-05-07
This is a good book because the front section covers basic stitches, and the rest is tons of wonderful patterns to cut out and use on just about anything. I have used many of them on various items, and most of them are basic enough to be mixed and matched to come up with unique motifs. I also like that the book has pockets to keep the patterns you cut out.

Cute, not hip 2008-03-29
This is not a bad basic book on embroidery, but I don't understand how anyone can call these patterns "hip." I'd use the term "cute" instead. I was glad I got it from the library first so I could see what the patterns were instead of going from the title. Having seen the book, I'm not going to buy it. The patterns are pretty conventional, not really different from embroidery patterns you can buy elsewhere (except for the one pattern showing an alien in a spaceship, which I did like). In the photos, the needlework is a bit more complex than what you get from the pattern. Photos showing various ways to "interpret" the patterns would have been helpful. But if you are just looking for patterns, you'd probably do just as well or better going to your local craft store or purchasing the patterns you want online.

Misleading description 2008-03-20
I was really looking forward to this book, but find that it is mostly clip art and almost no projects. A disappointing waste of money.

Oh, so fun! 2008-02-20
I love the easy instructions and stitch explanations. And the patterns are cute and fun to do- plus they're reusable! The pockets in the front and back a perfect for saving used patterns. Definitely a smart choice for a first time embroiderer.

more pictures please! 2008-01-14
This book comes with a lot of great iron on transfers for patterns, but I do wish there were more photographs of ideas of projects. I like the author's writing style and the pittures that are there are really nice, I just would like more!
