The best $ fold book
2008-01-20
This is by far the best $ fold book I own. The directions are great and the ideas are very different. Even the difficult folds are explained pretty well. The book also shows how to do some regular paper folds like boxes etc. Awesome book & a great place to start for beginers!!!
Fun - But not for Beginners

I really like all the designs that are included in the book. Out of the 15 different designs I managed to only figure out how to do 5 of the designs. Some of the instructions and illustrations were not very clear in my point of view. I really love all the flower designs, but I was only able to figure out two out of the three. Of course, it was the most beautiful design that I was not able to figure out. Although, I was more experienced with origami folding than my husband, I had to asked him to try to analyzed the instructions since he is a physicist and a mathematician. He managed to help me figure out two of five designs that I was able to create. This book needs a bit more clearer instructions and should use more color to help with the illustrations. Think very hard before buying this book because you might not get all your money's worth if you can only learn how to create very few designs from it.
Bought this for my son

My teenager loves oragami so I thought he might like this book. He did. You need fresh NEW money though or the folds won't hold right. Lots of cute designs inside.

This is a great book. Have learned several of these already and am eager to learn and teach even more. Great way to pass time while waiting any= where.
Pretty Cool Book

This book offered many unique designs that i have not seen before. It has 15 money folds and a section on envelopes and boxes. This book will tend to be hard for the beginner. I have done a few money folds and some of the pictures of the directions are hard to figure out whats going on. The pictures just need more detail. There is a lot of cool things in this book though, i really enjoy it!
Great Book!

Hard to follow

I took a chance on this book after reading the reviews. I wanted to make a Gecko for my mentally disabled nephew because he loves GEICO and was going to have his 6 wisdom teeth pulled. I thought it might cheer him up. Well, I couldn't figure it out past step 10. If the pictures were real photos of the steps it probably would have been something I could have done. He is having surgery this very minute but he will find no Gecko in his get well pkg. :-{ I posted an email asking for help thru Amazon but no answer. I called the publisher twice. No help except an offer to pass my phone number to the author of the book. Never heard anything. (I had explained to the publisher why I was wanting to make the Gecko.) Oh, well. If one can't conceptualize, this book is not usable. I haven't tried any other designs, but I had bought the book specifically for the Gecko.

I love this book! I've bought several money origami books and this hands down is the most comprehensive book I've seen. Here are some major pros in this book:
1. The designs are all accurate - which has not been the case for all the books I've purchased.
2. She gives detailed folding instructions. I know some have complained about this, but really if you've never read an orgiami design before it will take a little for you to understand how to follow them. This is true for ANY book. Origami instructions have a standard notation which she explains quite well in the introduction of the book - don't skip this if you've never folded before. Other books don't have as detailed instructions.
3. The designs are color coded which makes them very easy to follow.
4. the spiral binding makes it easy to lay the book down while following the design (more important feature than you may think).
5. She shows accurate, clear, large pictures of the completed design.
She provides a little history of origami and a very nice introduction for beginners. She even provides folds for envelopes for the design. I have never seen this done before and was very pleased and impressed.
If you are a beginner folder it is a little struggle to learn how to fold. There are many resources on the web if you are having trouble. In truth, despite some of the other reviews here, I often recommend this book for the novice folder. It takes you through some easier designs and some more complicated designs. It gives you a chance to work your way up.
I started with "The Buck Book" and moved to this one. Although the buck book has some nice designs (and I'd recommend it), this book has some very unique designs that make great gifts.
I wonder if any of the reviewers, that had a negative impression of this book, have seen any of the other origami books out there. By comparison this is a great book that I recommend to anyone interested in money folding.

I love this book, it's easy to understand if you already know a bit about origami other wise I would not suggest using this as a first time book.
I use these folding for tips at resturants and the waitresses LOVE them.
