Exercise your students' brains with Brain Gym 2008-03-07
I have seen Brain Gym in action, and I am a believer! Help your students be ready to learn. Give them the advantage of having their right and left brains engaged and prepared for your lessons.

Hands On is helpful in the classroom 2007-11-26
I can turn this book over to my paras and they know what to do. It is clear, easy to follow, and very helpful as I do not have time to write all this down myself!

good ideas 2007-10-28
I work as an occupational therapist and I have always had trouble with finding a way to present brain gym to a teacher that is easy to implement. This book offers some really good ideas.

Brilliant Handbook! 2007-10-22
"This is a brilliant handbook for parents and teachers alike. I particularly like the activities included for building the skills needed for writing and reading. The photos make it easy to jog your memory in recalling how to do the movements. This is a must-have supplement to taking the Brain Gym workshops and will definitely entice you into learning more about the Brain Gym program." DH Learning Specialist

Really glad I found this! 2007-07-21
I was looking for printed materials about Brain Gym and came across the Hands On Photo Manual. I was particularly impressed with the layout as it helped me to understand how and when one uses Brain Gym with kids and the pictures clearly illustrated the variations with minimal written instruction. This is a truly parent-friendly book!

Teacher 2007-07-13
I found Hands On to go one step beyond Brain Gym, Teacher's Edition. Hands On brings eye movements into the Brain Gym exercises and offers many variations for the movements. I was especially impressed with the alphabet 8's used to teach printing and cursive writing. I would recommend this book to all classroom teachers.

Only okay 2007-03-11
It was somewhat helpful to see different ways that they have incorporated Brain Gym into the classroom. However, if you already have a Brain Gym manual, this isn't that beneficial. It doesn't give good directions to follow for implementing the actual exercises, (it primarily uses pictures.)

This book made such a difference in my son's handwriting 2007-03-04
This book has been a godsend to me (and my son). He struggled with his printing in first grade; when he would pick up the pencil to practice I could see his little body start to tense up. I felt so badly for him. I took a 2 day course by Isabel Cohen based on this book, and I started using her techniques with my son for his handwriting practice. It made a great difference in his writing, but more importantly to me, he stopped tensing up every time he picked up a pencil. There are great charts for both printing and cursive in the book, and it even gives you the proper words to say to your child as you teach them.

I also used her techniques to help my son with spelling, and for a boy with ADHD and a brain injury, he has a 92% spelling average - not too shabby.

I highly recommend this book, and also highly recommend taking a workshop from her if you can. [...]

Easy to use 2007-01-15
Take the time to read the book first (at least the first half) before actually introducing it to the kids. I believe it works, and if it doesn't, just explaining how it will help the students makes them think it's working in their body. (Placebo effect?) I've had them start centering themselves when we line up in the classroom before we join the other elementary classrooms because once out there, a lot of self control is required. Our line is always the straightest, quietest and most controlled.

Keeps them on their toes 2007-01-06
Very good to keep the kids on their toes. Quick to do fills in those times when the class is in transition. Have become apart of our afternoon routine when the brain is a little sluggish. good for a first thing in the morning to jumpstart our brains, too.
