Most Informative Book I've Read

Jack's book is the easiest and most understandable book I've ever read that deals with a home project. He gives you ideas and information that may be left out by a contractor. Also, he provides his contact information so you can ask him questions about your problem (and he's quick to respond). I would recommend this book to anyone and I know it will give me more confidence when I start talking to contractors.

Best book in this category and very helpful author

I couldn't be happier with my purchase of this book. Compared to few other books I bought for waterproofing, this one is much comprehensive. It gives you steps to follow for different systems. Best of all, Jack is extremely knowledgeable and helpful on the phone and email. He can't be doing this for money, it must be for passion!

Presented no 'new' ideas

Make you confident when talking with contractors

I wish I had read this book before I had signed contracts with the basement waterproofing company, 'cause I might have negotiated a much better price. However, reading this book before they come to do the job still gave me huge befenits. I was not afraid of their jargon any more, and at times, I pointed out that they were not doing things the best way, and they corrected it. At the end of the day, they told my wife: "Your hushband knows a lot about basement!" I believe that is the kind of knowledge you want to have when you have someone working in your basement. This is THE book to have.

Refreshing, unique

This book helped me cut through the huge amount of information about basement waterproofing (usually provided by companies who are trying to market their products). By explaining the basic principles, this book puts the reader in a better position to make informed decisions. Jack Masters was truly helpful when I contacted him with questions (his contact info. is included in the book). 5 stars all the way.

The handbook is unique in many ways. It is the only consumer oriented book to be written about this important subject. Since fully half of the homes in America ,with basements, leak water, it is indeed an important subject.The book is written in straight forward non-technical language. This, plus the fact that it is fully illustrated, make understanding easy-even for novice home owners.Of course pricing is included,as a protection against paying too much for a given service. The book is updated annually,to include new technology ,new pricing and new ideas.The list goes on,but perhaps most important of all,free consulting services are made available to every reader.For the first time,experts,myself included,are standing by on a daily basis to answer any lingering questions.The stakes can be very high when a home is being assaulted by ground water.Consulting Services will allow us to provide a level of reader satisfaction which this type of problem demands.

A must have before you start waterproofing 2006-08-10
Some contractors recommended the outside fix and others the inside fix. I could not figure out which method would be best for me. After reading this book, I understood which was the right solution for my home. A great book.

Worked for us! 2006-06-30
We hired a company that installed our interior waterproofing system just as this book describes. That was years ago, and we've had no problems since. If I had not read this book, I could have really been ripped off not knowing what I needed. So many "experts" claim you can solve your problems with regrading and better downspouts, but that had not worked for us. The author helped me to understand why we really did need a french drain system, and gave me an idea of what the cost should be. The book was actually an interesting read too. I never thought a book about solving wet basements could be a good read, but it was. I even spoke to the author twice on the phone for help (he includes his phone number in the book - unheard of!), and he was super helpful.

Waterproof your basement 2006-03-19
Jack Master's book is concisely written and easy for even do it yourselfers to understand. There are many well thought out illustrations which help pinpoint the causes of and remedial actions for water in the basement. A great plus is that the author is readily available by email or phone to answer any questions the reader may have. I heartily reccommend this manual.
