A must for moms of multiples
2008-03-10
This book was so helpful in the arrival of our twins. There are many stories of different families and the different ways of doing things that is so helpful. The author also provides excellents tips on what to buy and what probably won't work. The book is broken up into 3 sections; 0-3 months, 3-6, and 6-9 which is very helpful. Great advice for someone who has no idea what to do with two babies.

I did not come away with much from this book. She basically says get organized, have a sense of humor, and borrow as much stuff as you can from others. I didn't need to pay for this advice. I also didn't like the aggressive tone of the "Handling the Curiosity" section of her book. The most extreme story ending with a harassed mother retorting to someone questioning how she got pregnant "Excuse me. Did I ask you if you douche?" The world has enough vulgarity in it. Again, I felt I had wasted my money on these stories that the author obviously thought were tales of witty comebacks.
The Lazy Mom's guide to Twins

Over all I was not really impressed with this book. The author did not offer any true advice. Her best advice is join a support group for mothers of twins. If you are planning on bottle feeding and have someone else taking care of your precious little one's this book is for you. To be fair there is a section on breast feeding, but the whole book she constantly talks about bottle feeding. To me everything she advocates goes against all of my motherly instincts. So if you want the lazy mom's guide this is it. Why not just hire a nanny and let her take care of your kids? I didn't go through years of fertility treatment to figure out the most convenient way to ignore my twins needs.
Completely Fantastic!

After reading this book I am actually looking forward to having twins. The author is funny and very informative as well as supportive for new/new-to-be moms who are having twins. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs a fresh approach (not something written in medical terms) to mothering twins. Thank you Elizabeth!
I love this book!

This book has been a refreshing break from all of the boring factual pregnancy books I've been reading. Elizabeth Lyons has a way with her words that convey honesty, bluntness, sincerity, and her love for her children all at the same time. I have not put this book down since I received it as a gift 2 days ago and will probably finish it today. I love the author's sarcasm and her "don't sweat the small stuff" approach to raising her children. The author also recommended several helpful websites to visit and items to purchase. I know this book has helped me and will continue to help me throughout the first year of my boys lives. Thank you Elizabeth!
Fantastic

Out of all of the books that I purchased about twins, this is my favorite. It was really nice to read a book that did not try to sugar coat how difficult it is to raise twins, but at the same time let me know that i'm not alone either. This book gave you great tips and humor, too! I was pregnant with twins with my first (and only) pregnancy, So really had no idea what I was doing. This book let me know that it is hard, but you'll be able to get through it.
Looking through my window!!

Being a new mother of twins, I did not have this book before the kids were born. I wish that I had, however starting to read the book 3months after their birth was just as funny, insightful and helpful. As I read not only each chapter, but even each paragraph, I felt as though the author had been looking into my daily life through my window. I even found myself reading lines to my husband, whom also connected to the book as well. So it is great for both parents!! Highly recommended and I have purchased her next book for the 'Toddler Years'.
Easy Read

The best thing I like about this book is that it maintains an enthusiastic energy throughout. It approaches having twins like an adventure rather than an insurmountable task. I am a physician so I really appreciate the common sense practical advice. For instance, the fact that there is a waiting period for getting into the best daycare centers and it is okay to put ear plugs in, if both babies start screaming together to dull the noise! I liked it so much that I ordered the sequel "ready or not here we go". It also provides advice about what to buy and breastfeeding twins.
Great Book

My husband and I are expecting twin boys and I read this book while on bed
rest and I couldn't put it down. I think this lady has lots of helpful hints and advise about pretty much everything that she lived through with twins.
Love, love, love this book!
