Sick.....
2008-01-03
"Santa" bought this book for my son for Christmas. I quickly scanned the book when we received it, though with the Christmas rush, I admit I didn't read it in its entirety. My son was thrilled to have a new book based on his favorite series and laughed hysterically through most of it. However, towards the end I noticed he became very quiet and then burst into tears! The last two chapters are horribly violent and Santa shows up with a gun trying to kill Harry Putter!! Sick!! I immediately tossed the book in the garbage, where it belongs and I hope my son forgets he ever read it.
A good read

I purchased this book for a friend who is Harry Potter crazy. He really enjoyed the book and told me what a good read it was. He says that it is a must have for any Harry Potter fans.
unfunny and in poor taste

Let me say right off that I am writing this review after only reading a chapter and a half or so, in case you wish to disregard it as unreliable. But that is precisely the crux of the matter - I was simply unable to read any further!
The first few to several pages did garner some hearty chuckles, I can say that much for the book. However, from then on the writing gets progressively worse, until it becomes unreadable altogether.
One of the author's premises, it seems, is that whatever is the opposite of what happened in the actual Harry Potter books, it must be funny. Sirius -hated- Harry (I, for one, would think that making jokes about Sirius is off limits altogether), Harry -enslaved- the free elf Dobby, and so on. Not only does all this illustrate tremendous lack of class, it's simply not funny.
And after reading how the stench of Harry's socks was fatal to others, I shut the book and returned it back to Amazon.
This is not the Harry you've read about!

We bought this a while ago and we loved it. Knowing the original "Potter" stories made it even better. My two older daughters thought it was hilarious, and my youngest just started reading it as well. We only wish the series was longer!
