Editorial Review
Thirteen-year-old DaIne has always had a knack with animals, but it's not until she's forced to leave home that she realizes it's more than a knack -- it's magic. With this wild magic, not only can Daine speak to animals, but also she can make them obey her. Daine takes a job handling horses for the Queen's Riders, where she meets the master mage Numair and becomes his student.

Under Numair's guidance, Daine explores the scope of her magic. But she begins to sense other beings too: immortals. These bloodthirsty monsters have been imprisoned in the Divine Realms for the past four hundred years, but now someone has broken the barrier. It's up to Daine and her friends to defend their world from an immortal attack.

Audiobook is fantastic 2008-01-27
The story is fantasic, and the audiobook really brings it to life. There are different voices for everyone and it keeps your intrest. It also keeps at a good pace, but not too fast.

The BEST audiobook I've ever heard!! 2007-12-27
Not only is this an EXCELLENT story but it's also the best audiobook I've ever heard. The casting is EXCELLENT (OK, I'm wearing that word out, but I can't help it. LOL); I've heard many audiobooks, but never one with so many actors. A full-cast is new to me, and it felt like listening to TV, a statement I intend as a compliment. Sarge's bellows and Onua's gleefully saying that she was going to "torture some trainees" were so realistic I had to laugh. I had some difficulty understanding the boy playing Tom (a 6-year old character), but, then, young kids' speech isn't always easy to understand anyway. The music adds to the presentation, unlike being a distraction in other audios. I'm not 10, 42, in fact, but I VERY highly recommend this audiobook to other adults who enjoy good fantasy.

Exciting Adventurous Page-Turner from the Land of Tortall 2007-12-11
Do you like adventure, excitement, magic, and animals? Then this is the book for you. This exciting novel called Wild Magic was written by Tamora Pierce and is one of the many books set in the Land of Tortall. The book is the first of the Immortals Quartet and is about a girl named Daine who finds out that she is brimming with Wild Magic. Tamora Pierce explains Daine's adventures and life with her new Tortallan friends.

Wild Magic was an excellent book and I rate it with 5 gold stars! Tamora Pierce is an amazing fantasy author and I reccomend this book and all her other magic books (all of which I have read) to all fantasy readers and especially Tamora Pierce fans! I believe that books on fantasy topics are very difficult to write because although it may mimick reality it is not. I think that Tamora Pierce has excelled in this area of writing.

Read Tamora Pierce's Wild Magic to find out more about this exciting fantasy page-turning novel!

A fun and magical easy read 2007-09-30
Wild Magic catches your attention from the start and never lets it go. The story is full of action and adventures. This is my first Tamora Pierce book and after the first few pages I became a fan! My advice: read the Song of the Lioness series before starting with this one. If you love knights, swords, horses and magic you must read his book.

Wild Magic 2007-09-14
Well I have to say that this is one of the newest book series that have really caught my eye because I have to say that this is GREAT! The entire series is a very enticing read and I really didn't want to put it down. Definetly get all four and venture your way into the alanna adventures as well (I'm just getting started on them) I have to say that this is one of the best series, everything just pulls you in. I just couldn't stop reading. Literally.

Wonderful Story 2008-07-16
I read this before I read the other series (Song of the Lioness)so I really had no background info on the setting. The plot is intriguing and the details back it worthwhile.

Terrific Series Starter 2008-06-15
Daine is a young girl, newly orphaned who applies for work at a horse fair. The horse trainer, Onua doesn't want to take on such a young girl but gives her a chance and sets her in among the horses she has already purchased. It's not a problem for Daine that those horses are wild, untamed and unruly because Daine has wild magic and can speak to the animals.

Onua takes her on and they set off for the capital of Tortall because Onua is the horse-mistress of the Queen's Riders. Daine makes herself invaluable on the way by keeping the horses in line and fighting off immortals.

She meets Numair who plays a huge role as her teacher in the rest of the series. Numair is 27 at the start of the series and Daine is 13 so there is a huge age gap there.

Daine's magic grows leaps and bounds under Numairs tutelage and Daine's wild magic becomes instrumental in saving Tortall from Carthaki invaders.

Daine is probably my favorite character in the Tamora Pierce world of Tortall. She's got this natural thing with animals that I would love to have... She's not overly stubborn (like Alanna) or boring (like Kel - she was my least favorite heroine) or mischievous (like Aly, who is my second favorite (^_^) ) or even determined (like Pierce's newest heroine Bekka). Daine is just nice and has a lot of common sense and is brave.

Disapointment 2008-04-28
This is the most disappointing thing I have ever bought online. Actually, I don't know because it hasn't come yet. I ordered it over a week and a half ago and it still hasn't come. Why sell when you don't deliver?

Captivating 2008-02-13
Wild Magic, a book by Tomora Pierce and the first book in the series The Immortals, is about a girl named Daine. Daine was always good with animals. Then she leaves her home and realizes she is more than good with animals; she has magic. Her magic allows her to talk to them and they obey her. Her magic is about to run away with her when her new job sets her in the company of a kind mage named Numair. Numair helps her learn how to control and use her magic.
My favorite part was when all the birds in the story help Daine fight off several Stormwings. Even though they all die, Daine's powers seep out and bring the birds back to life, fix broken wings, and heal their wounds. This book would be great for anyone in to fantasy and fiction books, more for someone in 6th too 8th grade. I don't really know, older groups of people might like it as well. I give this book a 10 on a scale of 1:10.
This book has sparked my imagination. I am always thinking about how life would be if we had magical powers. This book is very entertaning and keeps the adventure going. I hope you read the other books in the Immortals series. This book captivated me. I hope you enjoy/ enjoyed it as much as I have.
