I really enjoyed the first 478 pages of this book. For me though the ending just didn't do the story justice.
disturbing yet beautiful

If you are a religious person, and you can't believe how Pattyn's father treats her, or how their pastor thinks, you may cringe a bit. I know I did. Even though it is fiction. I couldn't believe some of the things. I loved it despite it was disturbing. I loved the relationship between Pattyn and Ethan. I'm glad she found someone. I wish that Pattyn would've put up a fuss, and demanded she stayed with her Aunt, when it was time for her to go home. I love Mrs. Hopkins work. I am anxiously awaiting "Identical" which is due out August 26th.

I started reading this book last night and I just finished it 90 minutes ago...I could not put it down...I instantly fell in love with the characters (well not all). It may not leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, but it's a great read.
Another Masterpiece that hooks you until the end!

Ellen Hopkins has yet again created another masterpiece that is both touching and thrilling. This book creates images of a story that people can relate to and see happening in our every day lives. It takes place in a Mormon family where a woman's only role is to have as many children as she can (mostly boys), take care of them and please her husband - even if it means getting beaten!
In Pattyn's (the main characters)world, she has never known true freedom until her father catches her with a boy (that isn't Mormon) and after a series of dilemas, is sent to live with her Aunt J whom has never gotten along with her brother, Pattyn's father.
The story continues at Pattyn's finds love, hatred, pain, and the harsh sides of her own reality and the one person she truly loves... This heart warming story will live you in tears or close to them. Enjoy!

Raised in a religious -- yet abusive -- family, Pattyn Von Stratten starts asking questions -- about God, a woman's role, sex, love. She experiences the first stirrings of passion, but when her father catches her in a compromising position, events spiral out of control. Pattyn is sent to live with an aunt in the wilds of Nevada to find salvation and redemption. What she finds instead is love and acceptance -- until she realizes that her old demons will not let her go.
Incredible

This was possibly the greatest book I have ever read. Dispite my useraname I am a boy of 14 and i cried like a baby at the end. Being jewish I think this book really opened my eyes to the life of mormon families ( not all of course). In a nutshell, amazing storyline, grat writing, depressing ending. YAY
A Great book!

Following Pattyn through her family problems was a trip in itself. Everyone knows someone who is going through something similar. Pattyn has trouble with her dad and family and is sent to live with her aunt. At first, I thought her aunt would be very hard on her and keep her locked up. But the opposite happens, she gives her freedom. That is exactly what she needed. Although it causes problems when she goes back to her family, she gets through it with the guy she runs in to at her aunts ranch. This books is great and really showed me what my friend went through when she was having a similar problem with her family. READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Read!

This book was great!! i have read other books by hopkins such and crank and i loved it i love books in verse format! this book i was iffy on because of the fact that it dealt with religon. but i read it all of it in about 5 hours i could not believe the way the women are saw as baby makers and housewives i think women should do as they wish and be treated as equals. in this book. but i was captivated by the way pattyn felt with death, sex, and growing up. the ending kinda sucked but the book was great...or maybe i just did not understand the ending this it a great read for teens im 17 and i loved it!!!!

As i said with the first book, INCRDIBLE! Its was a very sad read and it really got to my emotions. I couldnt fully comprehend exactly where Hopkins was coming from due to the fact i grew up in an athiest family. And yet Pattyn involved you in every aspect of her emotions. It truly was another hit out of the park by Ellen Hopkins.
