This book is so fun to read with little ones because it has a song-like rhythm to it.
Clap your hands! 2008-04-15
Stomp your feet! Clap your hands! Everybody ready for a barnyard dance! This is just great read-aloud fun and was one of my youngest son's first "favorite" books - even when he was too young for it, he liked to hold it and look at it. Also, if you're familiar with the Turkey from "Red Hat, Green Hat" - my two-year-old likes to point him out in this book and say "Oops!"

This was my very first taste of Sandra Boynton's writing and I was hooked. She has a great writing style that's fun and snappy. That makes you want to sing and dance. Believe me, my 1st child and I did!! :)

My daughter is 18 months old and I have bought every Sandra Boynton book that amazon.com offers. "Barnyard Dance" is by far the best (in my opinion) out of all of them. And even though my little girl can't read yet, even she squeals with delight and laughs out loud the most when I read this one. If you only buy one Boynton book, this is the one! (although, like me, you'll be buying all of them soon because you'll be hooked!)

Great cadence that keeps our 14 month old's attention and results in a request to read it again...and again...and again. That's fine by us - we'd much rather have that problem vs. her not wanting to read! My only small complaint is that in some places, it might be difficult for our child to assign the animal sounds to the correct animal on the page (this may be an age thing) so I have to say, for example "With an Oink and a Moo and a Quack Quack Quack" there are more animals on the page than a pig, cow and duck so I add a parentheses while I'm reading "With an Oink (because that's a pig) and a Moo (because that's a cow) and a Quack Quack Quack (because that's a duck)". Otherwise, we LOVE this book. Great writing, great art, and we actually enjoy reading it as parents (can't say that for all of the kids books out there - how did some of them get by a publisher?)

If you read this book naturally, the inherent rhythms of the text turn it into a little song unto itself. You can tap your foot to it. Our baby girl dances to the *words* alone.

This is one of the cutest books ever written for little ones! Great quality for tiny teeth and fingers! It's so eye-catching and colorful, they all LOVE this one!

There is no greater compliment than when a child tries to recite the book BACK to the parents. Boynton has accomplished that with "Barnyard Dance!" Our oldest daughter, who is three, has Developmental Apraxia of Speech. Words do not come easily for her. BUT she adores this book and tries to "read" it to us all the time. Guaranteed to please your little one, I promise.

My family loves Boynton and this book. It is a fun, catchy story that my 2 and 4 year-olds enjoy dancing to. Though it's tough to choose, this is probably our favorite Sandra Boynton book of all!
