Great memory book 2007-07-17
My mom first told me about this book - she picked it up at a rummage sale. I decided to buy one for each of our kids' grandparents and send them to them for Christmas. They were all thrilled with the book, and they're excited to fill it out. I can't wait until we get them back this Christmas. It's a great idea for passing along information from one generation to another. We live overseas, and our kids only see their grandparents every-other year, or sooner if they come over to see us. I never knew my grandparents, and I wish I had something like this, sharing their lives with me. I also bought a set for a friend who's son was killed in Iraq, leaving behind a 6-month old son. Since their link to their grandson was gone, they were very touched to have a way to leave their memories for their grandson.

Looking forward to filling in this book 2007-04-23
Our first grandchild was born one year ago, so I purchased both the Grandma and Grandpa books so husband and I could sit down and fill these out together. He balked at first, but then I asked him if he wouldn't love to have one of these filled out by HIS grandparents, and he agreed this will be time well spent. Very sturdy little book with a wonderful range of questions that are sure to cause old memories to resurface. I hope my grandson and future grandchildren will enjoy reading about us!

Life Was Good During Granma's Time. 2006-11-25
The Music Was Great Then!, November 25, 2006

It was a wonderful time to grow up in my hometown. Things were easy for the poor and rich, as we were equal in the talent contests and given a chance with or without a mother there pushing for her kid. Dean Martin was one of the best singers, but Eddie Fisher was my singer and I was president of "The Fisher Notes." I wrote a review of his latest memoir which is not NTA, meaning no one can read or vote one way or the other. I put a lot of effort in my reviews, so here it is:

Janet Dailey now lives in Branson, Missouri, the place Deana Martin also calls her new hometown.
A Dutiful Daughter's Memories, August 12, 2006
I got too close to the truth for comfort!

Dean Martin was successful in the Fifties.

Writing is magical. The empty page is where you start to put together the disparate parts of your life. Once you put it down on paper, you can figure out how all your plans can start to come together. This is a fairytale of a little girl who never growed up. She lived with her mother in a big house in a fancy neighborhood in Pasadena. Her father had a fanciful career in movies and on television; his downfall was not drinking, as we were led to believe, but Lainze Kazan on one of his musical review shows. She was a regular and he certainly perked up and his eyes would light up when he talked about how beautfiul she was. He was part of a duo which dissolved, and he was much better on screen without his partner. Part of the Rat Pack, a broup of irrational performers in Las Vegas, he lost himself and became a bum. If you believe that this book was written out of love or devotion, you are absolutely wrong. She used it merely to get on a radio network who panders to half-way talent and has-beens to make a career on the back of her famous father.

His son wrote 'That's Amore" another of his songs. His didn't sell well, as this one did not. It was given away on that same network where they have appointed a "host" which just shows how far it has fallen. She would not be deemed a singer with another name. He died in dire circumstances with no family support, and it is a shame this writer has to stoop to obtaining a career on the demise of a famous singer. Maybe he would sit up and appauld, but I think he would turn in his grave at the injustice of this travesty. Since my first review was lost, this is just a resume. Too bad you couldn't read what I said.

She has made a career off of her dad's fame and has just about taken over MYL. She is a fraud with very little talent, certainly is not a star like her dad she abandoned and never will be. If she were so great, why on earth is she stuck in Branson, Missouri, answer me that! She is making tons of money off her dead dad and he is not here to defend himself. It's a dirty shame.

The Fifties were good to Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Eddie Fisher and other male singers; females didn't do so well. But it was a grand time to grown up and go off to college. Life was worthwhile then, not as the poor verses the rich in today's world.

A wonderful gift to give 2006-08-06
My grandson and his wife gave me this book last Christmas and i have had a ball writing in it. I have since purchased 7 copies to give to my children and friends and everyone says they are finding it very entertaining to be reminded of their childhood and growing up years.

treasured 2005-10-01
i gave this to my grandmother when i was in college. she past away soon after i graduated, but this book is a wonderful keepsake. everytime i pull it out it brings back great memories. i only wish that i had gotten it for her sooner so that she could have finished it. the questions are about her past, things that i would have never known. love it and will cherish it forever!!

Absolutely wonderful gift for grandmother! 2008-06-24
This is a wonderful gift to give a new or current grandmother, or even as a gift to a grandchild (after adding to it of course). Basically, this book contains many questions and pages for Grandma to answer and pass down to her grandkids. It's something the grandkids can read whenever and get a great understanding of the person their grandmother is. It might seem a little morbid at first, but having something written down is a great suppliment to all the great times the child will have with his grandmother. Please note, however, that in order to get hundreds of memories into one small spiral bound paperback book, it is not as substantial and sturdy as some of the other memory books. Though I think it is a good trade-off.

A Grandma's Dream 2008-06-11
This is one of the best little books that I've seen in a long time. I thought it was larger judging from the picture, but after examining it closer, it's the perfect size. I'm having such fun recalling long past memories to share with my grandchildren. I bought 2 books, one for my husband too, he'll have to give his own review, he does think they're great little books. I hope the grandchildren will treasure them, I wish there had been something like this for me from my grandparents, I never had the pleasure of knowing them, I feel it's such a loss.

Great way to share with your grandkids 2008-06-01
I started by buying these books for my parents to fill out for me. I loved reading their responses. I learned many things about my parents that I didn't know before. It also sparked conversations with them about additional stories.

Now that I have children, I'm buying these books for me and (the grandparent ones) for my parents to fill out for them. And buying them as gifts for new parents.

Regarding the comments that there isn't a lot of room to write...The pages are small, but there are only a few pages that you would get that lengthy on your stories. You can always attach in an additional sheet of paper to continue your story.

I do not like the size of these books they are tiny 2008-03-01
I do not like the size or design of these books. They are extremely small and are not made of a material that will stand up to years of wear and tear.

Not that great 2008-02-21
Its like a calander with some really wierd questions that most people don't relate to. I also thought it would be bigger but its about the size of my hand. Its a good conversation starter. I returned mine.
