Great thing to share with your children! 2008-06-01
I started by buying these for my parents to fill out for me. I loved reading their responses. I learned many things about my parents that I didn't know before. It also sparked conversations with them about additional stories.

Now that I have children, I'm buying these books for me and (the grandparent ones) for my parents to fill out for them. And buying them as gifts for new parents.

Regarding the comments that there isn't a lot of room to write...The pages are small, but there are only a few pages that you would get that lengthy on your stories. You can always attach in an additional sheet of paper to continue your story.

If not now, when? 2008-05-29
I am overseas with the Army. I gave this to my Mom for Christmas 2007. She got it in November and I said she could open it. She wrote back that she loves it and it writing in it all the time. She asked if I could handle some of it, I said of course I can. She died April 20, 2008 at 69 years of age. When I get back home this book will be the first thing I look for. Get one for your Mom. Now. Because if not now, then when? I am glad I did not wait.

Great questions, but not enough space to answer them! :( 2007-07-12
This book is set up such that every day of the year has its own question. This is great to keep moms on task and filling out the pages in a timely manner. Many of the pages are quite thought-provoking and encourage story-sharing. However, the space is MUCH too limited to adequately do so. For example, it is difficult to relate a childhood story in a space the size of an index card. And some of that space is taken up by the question! Couple that with someone who doesn't have TEENY TINY handwriting...and you have a problem. The questions are great, but there should be adequate room for an answer! For example, my mother quickly ran out of room on a question/card about elementary school but then there was an entire page for "what was your day and date of birth"?? That just makes no sense. Also, be warned that the font of the questions can be hard to read (as it is cursive and squished together). This is difficult for people with vision problems and for those whose primary language is not English. If you can get past that (and maybe supplement some of your own blank pages), this is a fantastic keepsake. It causes Mom to fondly look back on her life and remember events long past.
Overall review: It is a great way to share memories...but the logistics of this book need serious improvement.

great 2007-01-05
I think this is a great way to know things about your mother you may have never asked her.

Daughter's Remembrance 2006-08-02
My daughter, who is dying of cancer, had received a copy of this book from a friend. I had asked her some of the questions and could answer some of them for her. I ordered 2 additional copies for her other 2 children and in filling them out feel that they will provide her very young 3 sons with some idea of what her childhood and growing up years were like. Hopefully they will be a very treasured memento from a mother they will only be able to keep in their hearts.

Wonderful Memories 2004-08-31
I recently gave this to my aunt who has cancer and is bedridden to give to her own daughter for her birthday ... needless to say she was overwhelmed with such a 'memorable' gift. It gave my aunt the opportunity to share some wonderful and special moments in her own life with her daughter and remember some great times. I have now bought 3 copies of this book for other family members including my own mother. My only complaint is that it is truly American driven with regards to holidays and rites of passage (ie. snipe hunts), but you can get around these things easily. I highly recommend this treasure for all.

Most precious thing ever 2004-05-04
I actually bought this book MANY years ago. Took 3 years but my mom finally filled it out. This book is so precious to me. Once a year I take it out and read it. I just know if I ever have kids, they will love it as well. I searched online in hopes of finding ones similiar for other family members. I highly recommed this book to anyone. Ahltimerz runs big in my family, and I know there will be a day when I can no longer as my mom questions about her childhood. This book is great.

Tell your story 2002-08-30
I am planning on giving these gifts to my hubby and myself, from our four year old son, for Christmas. In addition to documenting our history for him, I think it will be fun for us all to work on together, as well. I am looking forward to it!

Mom Share Your Life with Me 2002-06-02
Answering these questions for my daughter brought back many long forgotten memories. I loved doing it and she loves reading it. She reads one page and day and has called me telling me how she has done the same thing I wrote about.

Definitely complete one for your children, but also buy them one to fill out now. Many of the questions are about childhood and the futher you get from it, the more you forget.

One complaint I have is it asks too many questions about nick names. On those pages, and others I didn't have an answer for, I would write about some story from my childhood I wanted to tell her about but there was no place for in the book.

too bad this book hasn't been around a few more generations! 2001-08-22
I'm the daughter of a mother who had cancer for many years... Conscientious as she was, she wrote out the answers to the questions in this book for my sister and I, and on the night she died, we got these books as a surprise. The concept of having questions for one to centre one's response around is fantastic, even if all of the questions aren't necessarily the ones you might ask. Ultimately though, I'm extremely glad to have had this book, even as I'm sad that she's not around to give me even more details... Thanks to Kathleen Lashier
