Pokemon Manga Rocks

This book stars Red (Ash/Satoshi in the manga) who is competing with Blue (Gary). Red and Blue are names that only link them with the games, not with the anime, and that is what this manga is about. Later in the series we also meet Green, who represents the third of the original pokemon games that was never released in America (and is a clever girl character, which I like seeing). There are a few twists, like Misty becoming friends with Red before Cerulean city, and some of the gym leaders like Koga being allied to Team Rocket, but that is part of what makes this a great story. Mew appears, which I love. Blue has more reason to show off in the Manga and seems to be a better rival than in the anime. He's still obnoxious, but at least you get to see him and red compete with each other, instead of constantly wondering if he's as good as he thinks he is.

This is a wonderful comic. This comic is just like the gameboy games with a few twists in the story. The names have been changed a bit too. Red instead of Ash. Blue instead Gary. And all of you Mew fans will be happy, because this comic features the one and only cute white Pokemon from the first movie. Mew.
Fantastic Series! 2000-08-01
This book is actually a compilation of the first six issues of the Pokemon Adventures comic book seies. First of all, it's much better than buying all the comics separately-you save more money buying this and it's smaller and more compact to take it places. The series is fantastic! It follows the story of Pokemon quite well with many aspects of the game including the bicycle, evolution, and many Pokemon. The main character is called "Red" rather than "Ash" and Gary is called "Blue." Ash starts off with a Poliwhirl and gets Bulbasaur from Prof. Oak. Blue gets Charmander. Later on, Red meets up with a girl named Green who stole Prof. Oaks Squirtle. Red catches a ton of Pokemon in this series(unlike the cartoon) and he's actually GOOD as your supposed to be! The stories are really fun and the drawings(by Mato) are excellent! The characters look very neat and the Pokemon are as cute and as accurate as they can be! However the drawings are kinda scrunched and it's hard to see some things like the panels with battles-btw it's in black and white-I wish it was in color to see better. The stories make up for that though because they are so fun to read and the drawing is eye candy. This is well worth the money! Can't wait till the next issue!
Desperado Pikachu? Ooh, it only gets better from here! 2000-05-30
So you're into Pokemon? You're REALLY into pokemon, right? If so this is THE book for you! Not only is the story practically ripped straight from the game, but it's also got those little touches to make it completely unique and original. Mato's art is almost completely in the SD (super-deformed) style and the way he/she depicts the pokemon is incredible! I love how Pikachu and Bulbasaur are drawn in this manga! Whil I followed the comic from the start, this is really a great place to pick it up! This collects all of part one (if i'm not mistaken) and will lead you into the recently published (and cheaper!) part two! Trust me, after these first stories the comic really picks up and moves at a great pace! This would be a perfect addition to any Pokemaniac's giant collection! It features an awesome story, incredible charcters, wonderful art, and it's one of those rare mangas that's appropriate for anybody! Check this out today!
Unlike your Standard Pokemon Story 2005-12-19
This manga is unlike the standard Pokemon story. We all know about the show where Ash meets somebody new, Team Rocket comes, etc. That's getting old! This manga is offering something new!
This manga is based off Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green (a.k.a. Pokemon Blue in America). The main character is Red, based off the main character in the games. His rival is Green (a.k.a. Blue in America), based off the rival in the games.
Red, like Ash, wants to become a Pokemon Champion, but he has Team Rocket to face. However, unlike the anime, Team Rocket is much more clever, much more evil in this manga. And that right there is an enjoyable aspect of this manga.
If you like Pokemon, then you'll love Pokemon Adventures.
Pokemon Adventures 2003-07-23
This type of pokemon manga is my favorite because it's fun, it's clean, and it is enjoyable. Especially if you have played the original pokemon gameboy games, then you will get the most out of it.
GREAT!!! 2003-05-22
This is the first one that I have read. It's really, really great. Instead of the usual Ash, Gary, Misty and Brock from the anime this book gives a whole new twist. The the hero being Red and his rival being Blue. In my opinion it's a whole lot than the anime. This manga is more non-childish and give the Pokemon world a whole new twist. Instead of like the anime where Ash gets a Pikachu, Red starts with a Poliwag which is actually a Poliwhirl. Red is more mature and so is Blue. The rivalry is actually intense. Blue actually has something to prove and his ego isn't that bad. The artwork is pretty good and so is the storyline. Instead of the slow moving pace in the anime, this book has a more quickened pace making you want more. All and all this is great. I would recommand everyone to buy it.

This is alot better than the tv show!! Red is alot smarter than Ash!!!!I just wish they had the new pkmn in it.....
Red and Pikachu rule! 2002-06-26
This comic book has many engaging adventures, some of which any kid can relate to--like having money problems! The pictures are drawn with skill and appealing style, while they don't look too much like the orginal Ash and Pikachu. In fact, if you're getting tired of them, you'll enjoy this book! The characters and plot are mainly from the Red Pokemon Gameboy game, so if you enjoyed playing that, you really should read this graphic novel!
