Beautiful and Interesting Deck
2008-09-17
I purchased this tarot deck some time ago now, but that doesn't diminish the fact that I found Kat Black's Golden Tarot Deck to be visually stunning. This is, by far, my personal favorite of the decks that I own. Each individual card, in and of itself, is an artistic composition that offers a unique and insightful interpretation of the tarot. The time invested by Ms. Black as she compiled the images used in her various collages was time well spent. There is a certain feel, a warmth, that is consistant throughout the deck thus serving to unite the individuals into an entirely thought provoking presentation of the tarot. I highly recommend this deck to anyone with preexisting knowledge and/or interest in the tarot. And, anyone with an interest in fine art or art history would find this deck appealing as well.

There are already a number of reviews here that describe this deck very well, so I will simply say that this is an exceptionally beautiful deck. In fact, the box itself is a work of art! At $25, this is also an exceptional deal.
Just breath taking

Wow. What amazing tarot cards! I'm so happy I got this! It's my first tarot card deck, and it's a wonderfull start. The picture are amazing, and the symbolism of each card is very well presented. If you don't have a tarot card deck, but have always wanted one; get this deck. You won't be sorry.
WOW!!

This tarot card deck is the best I've ever seen, which isn't really saying anything, but . . . beginniners and experts alike will drool over these absolutely beautiful cards. They have a golden gilt edge and a pretty brown backing. Each card is a digital collage of European paintings from 1200 to 1500 A.D. After taking the basic designs from the beloved Rider-Waite deck, these breathtaking scraps of paintings are digitally put together to form a eerily amazing tarot card, with lush backdrops, beautiful people, and the most accurate, satisfying detail. The cards are easy to interpret and satisfyingly accurate. And here's the best part; it's digital, but you CANNOT tell!! Each card is it's own unique masterpiece. If you are looking for enchantingly beautiful tarot cards, then buy these right away. Now about the book. OK, if you are a real beginner, get another book along with this kit. The book includes the meaning of each card, three spreads, and other helpful tidbits, but it doesn't have seriously thorough, clear instructions for confused beginners. But still, this buy is totally worth it. Buy it, and you will definetly be extremely satisfied with this phenomenal deck. :)
Wonderful deck!!!

This elegant, artistic, beautifully crafted deck has been a wonderful deck to use for readings and has consistently given good, clear understandable readings for me. I find them aesthetically pleasing to look at, which is a plus with so many people publishing poorly-painted/drawn illustrations on their decks. It is my favorite deck.

Comprised of collage imagery from the European masters paintings, these Tarot cards pay tribute to artwork of the Middle Ages and early Renaissance celebrating the exploration of tarot and its artistic heritage.
fantastic deck, I don't use the booklet for my interpretations

Hello,
Just wanted to give a little bit of my opinion on the Golden Tarot deck. I absolutely love this deck, it has really made a stong impression on me and I am quickly developing that strong connection to it. The readings are greatly enhanced by researching card meanings online. I felt that the booklet that explains each card was vaugue, limited, and quite frankly pretty skewed for some of the cards. I did some online research of several different sites and was able to compile my own meaning list, that I feel has given my readings so much more depth and accuracy. Anyway the cards are a bit less vibrant than I expected even after reading the reviews, but I really like the imagery, and I really feel that many of them have a deep spiritual resounance. I love them.

I find this deck very easy to read though it is hard to shuffle. I took another reviewer's advice and limbered the cards over the edge of my table to make them more flexible during shuffling. This has helped some. The card stock out of which the deck is made is thicker than other cards which makes the cards stiffer and the deck harder to handle since the whole deck is deeper and hard to get your hand around, and I have larger hands. This said the artwork is lovely.
I was expecting to see gilt on the front of the card too, to some extent, which it is not. Only the outside edges of the cards are gilted and lovely, but on the face or back, the "gold" is really just yellow printing.
I'll let the other reviewers say the rest. I do like this deck. It seems to convey deep spiritual meaning, especially from the Majors. The minors are enough like Rider Waite that reading is fairly easy.

It is very beautiful, the package and the card, but I did not like the imagens, they looks like Victorian Age. I like more fantasy and so. In fact I given them away to someone. I did not keep them.

First off I agree with reviewers: Dr.Mary G,J.Boyer,El.Brujo regarding the deck's beauty and Kat's artwork;however since I am skin-sensitive to actual gold which gives me a second degree burn in the skin. I would have to use latex gloves to handle the cards per se. However after reviewing the deck I was pleased by its artwork and beauty including the gold edges. The book has a good Horseshoe Spread I like which I would like to include in my revised edition of my spreadbook under revision now...And I will give credit to Kat in my books under manuscript now as I have over 90 tarot kits in my research drawers now. This is rated by me as a beginners tarot to start with..Buena Suerte!!!
