Editorial Review
Feminism isn't dead. It just isn't very cool anymore. Enter Full Frontal Feminism, a book that embodies the forward-looking messages that author Jessica Valenti propagates on her popular website, Feministing.com.

Covering a range of topics, including pop culture, health, reproductive rights, violence, education, relationships, and more, Valenti provides young women a primer on why feminism matters.

Valenti knows better than anyone that young women need a smart-ass book that deals with real-life issues in a style they can relate to. No rehashing the same old issues. No belaboring where today's young women have gone wrong. Feminism should be something young women feel comfortable with, something they can own. Full Frontal Feminism is sending out the message to readers — yeah, you're feminists, and that's actually pretty frigging cool.

Deluded and Weak 2008-07-04
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3PHVVFLI38VW7 I am no friend of radical feminism but this is a particularly weak effort in my opinion.

Disappointing. 2008-06-15
I'm a frequent reader of Feministing, not because I find her right or convincing about what she believes in, but because her claims are so outrageous that I find it amusing. I read the book in hopes that she would better explain herself and her beliefs, but alas, I found it to be simply an EXTREMELY long version of one of her Feministing posts.

Would not reccommend.

American feminism comes to a screeching halt at the Rio Grande River 2008-03-30
Full Frontal Foreign Women: A Young Man's Guide to Why American White Middle Class Feminism is Irrelevant

I am a young American man who made his mint in NYC and then moved to Central America 3 years ago. In the world outside of her failing feminist experiment, here are some facts for Valenti to brood over:

American women have a bad publicity problem, and rightly so.

Feminism does not matter, modern or otherwise. No need to define, redefine, remake, figure out, wonder about, or consider at all.

Whatever momentum your "movement" has, it comes to a screeching halt at the Rio Grande.

Folks around here never did see feminism as a threat or as powerful but merely as an annoyance while living in the U.S. and now, well, its just a source of humor. Plus you never have to concern yourselves with mens' rights activists in this brave new world; they simply don't exist...imagine that.

Yep, your speeches, books, articles only apply to a few middle class elitists; a mere plop in the bucket relative to the women on the entire planet. Here in the good ol' third world I and my fellow Americans (there are many here now, some with PFSD) are immersed in bevies of femininity and we do not respect or acknowledge or abide by the following:

Work life balance
Repro rights
Diversity
IMBRA
Marriage Broker Regulation Act
Inclusion
Stay at home moms
Body image
Political correctness
Title IX
Take your daughters to work
Affirmative action
Tahirih Justice Center
Maternity leave
Cultural Marxism
Ms Foundation
Third party childcare
Paternity leave
Linda Hirshman
Male bashing
Opt out myth
Having it all
Bonnie Erbe
Pay equity
Gloria Steinem
Fish riding bicycles
National Organization for Women
Takes a village
Mommy track
Biological clock
Gender
Wage gap
Gender role
Career vs family
Cultural Marxism (repeated)
Political correctness (repeated)
...and blah blah, ecchh

Because WE DON'T HAVE TO!!

Third World Women
The Manipulated Man

Full Frontal Feminsim 2008-02-29
Jessica Valenti has educated me on what young women are experiencing today in terms of mixed messages from our society. The book is positive. I would recommend it to older women as much as younger women and teens. I purchased a copy for a 19 yo girl friend to read. Times have changed, and not necessarily for the better, since my teenhood in the 70's.

Missing 30 Pages! 2007-12-25
I can't review the book I bought for a friend's daughter as when it arrived the beginning of the book was entirely blank - a publishers error. The book begins at chapter 3. Please be aware and perhaps buy it at the store rather than online where you can preview it.

Soundbites completely chewed up the author's intentions 2007-12-16

An eye-opening book for the new feminist 2007-12-04
This was an enjoyable, informative read. For the young woman who is curious about what feminism means, and how you can contribute to bettering the lives of women, this is a great start.

Good stuff. 2007-11-15
I am a fan of Valenti's blog and was turned on to her book via her site. As a senior women's studies major I found that the book was a great introduction to feminism. I wouldn't recommend it to older, well seasoned feminists but its a great intro to feminism/women's studies. It covers a wide range of issues and I found it useful as a reference for some of my assignments.

Give it to your daughter...and her friends 2007-11-13
I just finished reading this book and it seems like a great way to introduce my daughter to the core concepts of feminism. I hope I have led by example, but her immersion in the dominant culture has shaped her in ways that she doesn't even realize. Reading this book is a good way to get her thinking more critically about her assumptions and decisions. It's got a breezy style, sure; and for anyone who can't handle profanity--well, let's just say you're out of luck. I enjoyed the book, the references and suggestions at the end, and think it's a good intro for the middle school, high school and early college age student, male or female, who is exploring feminism.

Excellent Read 2007-10-24
An excellent Feminism 101 guide. The book doesn't go too far into depth about the issues presented, but it is an easy read and a good source of information for people who identify with feminist values, but do not call themselves "feminists." FFF addresses women's issues of which many of us are not conscious. The reason I am giving this book 5 stars is because it has helped me make sense of a lot of things in my life and has opened many doors for me. Another thing that I found helpful is that the book has an index with the names and addresses for feminist and reproductive and sexual health organizations. This book would be an excellent graduation gift for both high school girls and college girls.
