Beautiful projects - if a little difficult 2008-10-10
I'm a somewhat beginner knitter and I've wanted to branch out into sweaters and objects of beauty and learning rather than only what's in my comfort zone. Well this book is definitely a motivation. The items are beautiful with many nice photos. There are not really any for a beginner like myself, but more for an advanced beginner, which I now have a real motivation to become! I've started myself on a sampler (I think most knitters are familiar with this) just so that I can hone my skills and be able to start on one of the easier projects in this book. I can't wait!!!

Beautiful designs but... 2008-09-18
This is a beautiful book with many designs I want to try. I have only knit up one so far (the sleeveless turtleneck tank), and I have to say, I am a bit disappointed with the pattern. It was clearly written in a size other than the one I am knitting, because there are a couple of stitch-count mistakes in the pattern that made me have to rip out my work and start over. As a relative beginner, this was very frustrating, because I had to ad-lib on how to fix it. I have since discovered that these mistakes are corrected on the author's website, but that did me no good while I was trying to work through the problem. However, I am not giving up on the book yet. I'll try one more...but I'll consult the author's website before I pick up my needles.

Lovely patterns, BUT... 2008-07-07
First of all, I love the patterns in this book. There are at least five must-haves in here, and another five I may get to if/when I have time. The designer's all-raglan-all-the-time aesthetic didn't especially bother me, although she may want to consider branching out a bit with her next effort.

The down side -- and the reason the book didn't get more stars from me -- is that there are mistakes in this book. Loads of mistakes. Like, over two pages of errata listed at Stefanie Japel's website. By all means, buy this book, BUT then bop right on over [...] and download the errata list.

In short, this is a fun book that I'll use a lot, but I think it went to press a bit too quickly. Give the technical editor time to work his/her magic!

I was disappointed 2008-06-25
I was disappointed when I got the book. And I havn't used any of the pattern.

Love this book! 2008-06-17
I got this book and have not put it down since. The patterns are easy to follow, easy to knit and FAST. They are also very simple to alter to your style. Not so big on 3/4 sleeves? Want a different length? No problem, the author tells you at the front of the book how to alter these things. I love the top down construction, and can make one of these sweaters in a few days.

I have also used the patterns to make up simple t-shirts and sweaters for myself. This is a great book for people who are venturing into making sweaters, you see your results fast and can make up your own projects easily after having made one or two of the sweaters.

Disappointing heavy raglan sweaters 2008-05-31

Lovely! 2008-05-08
I loved this book. Her patterns are easy to follow and all have their own creative flare about them (little key-holes, lace detailing, puff sleeves). I can't wait for Glam Knits! *Yay!*

Pleased with my new gift 2008-03-30
I was given this book for my birthday and have enjoyed it. Looking through it I have seven projects ear-marked. I have selected the short sleeved cardigan with ribbing as my first project from the book and also as my first sweater I've ever knitted. I've been working on it for about four days now, and am almost finished the body and getting ready to work on the arms. I am pleased with the pattern as well as the results.

One thing I have to say about this book is that I am often at odds with the yarn used and/or required for the projects. Many of the patterns call for bulky weight so I just change it to whatever I want, sometimes successful other times not.

This book has great information regarding fit and flatter and also a section on how to fit your knits.

I am very pleased with this gift, had I not been given it, I'd have purchased it myself.

Beautiful 2008-02-26
I first borrowed this book from my local public library, but I loved each and every design so much that I had to buy it. The patterns are beautiful, as are the photographs. I have already made 2 of the designs and expect to make more. I love it!

Just OK 2008-02-17
I wasn't as impressed with this book as I expected to be. Nearly all of the designs are inspired by fashion typical in the Junior department. If you are over 20 yrs old - you aren't going to find much that would be suitable for you here. Lots of shrugs, cropped sweaters & 3/4 length sleeves which are out of style!! Aside from that, the construction and techniques are not anything inspiring. If you are beyond a beginning knitter - you could should be able to create these looks without spending the cash on a pattern book.
