A must read book! I sat down and read it cover to cover.
Not to be missed!
More Confessions that I love

Just because Vona dabbled in drugs or other "bad" things as a teen, she's labeled a "bad girl." I can relate to much in the story because the writing is so raw and real I am ripped open as a reader with the writer's brutally honest words.
Like the books CONFESSIONS OF A CATHOLIC SCHOOLGIRL and PROZAC NATION this is a must read for any teen or young woman that struggles to find herself in a mixed up world.
absolute dreck

Not a memoir of delinquency but a chronicle of Vona's incarceration in a juvenile "boot camp." Atrociously written by someone who comes across as a spoiled rich girl with a fondness for stereotypes, and whose "delinquency" seems to have involved nothing more heinous than dating a drug dealer and indulging in a brief "runaway" period to a vacation cabin with friends. Not recommended. (For a more compelling story written by a more sympathetic narrator in less painful prose, see Daphne Scholinski's The Last Time I Wore a Dress.)

My Daughter did 13 Months at Peninsula Village and it was her saviour as well. This is one of th emost respected centers in the world. At a cost of $9600 per month it had better be. We are pleased with the staff and Peninsula Village and they gave us our child back after 13 months a totally better person. The person who wrote this book trumped it up to sell books bottom line. Their is a lot of non truth items in this book.
Horrible

An advertisement for an abusive facility that breaks kids and then puts them back together as brainwashed robots... as told by one of their so-called 'successes'. Shocking only in the way that the author seems to truly believe that being isolated from human contact, allowed no friends and no conversation, and spending most of the day sitting on her bed (not being allowed to talk or even look at things), truly helped her 'recover'.

With adolescent swagger, BAD GIRL tells the unnerving story of an outlaw young life that must be broken, reshaped and finally redeemed.
At fifteen Abigail Vona was Involved with boys, booze, drugs and stealing anything and everything she could lay her hands on. She was spiraling out of control. Helpless to control his daughter, Mr. Vona committed Abigail to Peninusla Village, a controversial treatment facility for “behavior modification” in Louisville, Tennessee. No sooner did she walk through the door she was put on suicide watch which lasted for 3 months. She was not allowed to dress in more than a hospital gown until she graduated to “level-three lockdown” and “wilderness boot camp” where she stayed for nearly a year. And though it all started as a nightmare, it eventually became her salvation.
Pretty Good, But...

"Bad Girl" by Abigail Vona is a good look into the life of a teen out of control and placed in a facility to help change her wild ways. Although she wasn't all that wild, the facility helps her cope with her dysfunctional family life, and the way she views her actions. She meets other girls with problems even worse than hers, but learns to listen to them, whether their life stories or advice to her. "Bad Girl" is a truue story of what happens when a teen "delinquent" is sent away to confront her life and problems. Although this book isn't as good as, say, "A Million Little Pieces," it still speeds along quickly and is very intriguing.

Book arrived quickly and in good condition. This book is a story of a girl entering rehab and her experiences there. It is told honestly and is a bird's eye view of experiences in a place that sounds harsh. However, I am familiar with the reputation of the facility she describes which does have a good reputation, which makes it all the more interesting to see it from a patient's viewpoint. It is a personal journey, which takes great courage in the telling of it. She is obviously a good girl who came to be deeply troubled during her adolescence.
A look into rehab

For some reason I thought that this book would focus more on Abigail Vona's teenage delinquency than it did. Rather, it mostly followed her through the behavior rehab place she was unexpectedly sent to by her father. It really is amazing how Abigail's viewpoint towards her actions changed as she spent more and more time at the rehab center. The book follows her through the entire program, AA and all. I enjoyed this book, though I didn't think it was 5 star worthy. It was good, just not as I expected. Makes you really glad you've never been to a rehab like that.

A thorough and brutally honest account of a long stay in a juvenile psychological hospital. Very, very well written.
I hope Abigail Vona will write again, and tell about her life after she returned to the outside world.
