Great Fun!!
2007-10-31
I am a yoga teacher that suddenly found myself teaching a "Kids Yoga" class. Looking for fun, creative tools to reach children, I purchased Yoga Pretzels and it was the best investment I have made. After a 1/2 hour of doing yoga poses and pranayama, I pull out the cards and let each student pick a card (they are usually saying, "Is it time for the cards yet?". Each student demonstrates the pose and then we all do the pose together. The team building poses are their favorites. It brings lots of laughter and joy to the class. I now use one of the cards to end each class. We all sit in a circle, hold hands, close our eyes, and take turns gently squeezing the person hands sitting to the right and say a positive word about how they are feeling. This goes on until we the circle is complete.
My thanks to the creators of Yoga Pretzels!!
fun relaxation activity

I bought this product for use in an early childhood education classroom with 3 to 5 year old children. Our program encourages the children to make choices whenever possible, and this product gives me a relaxation activity for the children that allows them to make a choice, by taking turns selecting a card for everyone to try. They enjoy the activity and so do I. It really helps us to wind down and develop our self control.
Kids love them!!

I work with children who have disabilities (cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome, etc). Every child has trully enjoyed these cards. On the back the pose is broken down into 4 organized steps. It's neat to watch the kids figure out how to pose themselves. I use them for stretching, attention and concentration, deep breathing to help calm, weight bearing/strengthening, and for social groups (there are partner poses as well). A few of the parents even purchased them for home!
L-O-V-E these cards

I love these cards. My kids play with them without me, and I love to make sequences with them too. My Girl Scout troop loves to use them during our downtimes in meetings, they are such an awesome way to promote independant fitness! BUY THESE CARDS if you or your children love yoga!
works for me

I like using Yoga Pretzels in my classes, they help me keep a kid-like mood. The kids love being able to pick a pose or two from the cards. They take time to study the drawings and find ways to share and cooperate. I love the "Time In" section-- the relaxation scripts work equally well for adults and children. Animal Friend is my favorite.
My only criticism would be that the instructions for the poses don't say how to get out of the poses, or how to move into another pose. With a little experience and imagination this is easy to overcome, so it's not much of a drawback.
The color combinations are striking, drawings whimsical and clear, poses have a good range from easy for anyone to really challenging. Reasonable price too.
Kids really love this!

My students really like this product. One side of the card is the the pose with the name, and the other side shows the four steps to achieve this pose. As an OT I work with children with tremendous difficulty motor planning new movements; and because of the steps presented visually, my kids do really well figuring out how to do these poses with more independence. It is a wonderful product. BUY IT and have fun!
Well designed, lots of fun

What I like most about these is that they are color coded for different kinds of poses and activities. I like the flexibility of mixing up the poses or focusing on one kind, rather than using a book that sets the sequence. The only thing I don't like about this and some other kids yoga products is that the names of poses are changed to make them more kid friendly. Since there's no consistency between products, one will call child's pose, for example, "sleeping mouse," and another will call it "rock." But overall, I highly recommend these cards.

We are still trying to fit a set time for this yoga with our crazy schedules, but we have already worked on it some and my husband and I and our two girls one five and the other three all love it. The creator of these cards seem to want to create strong families. It should be easier after the holidays to establish a family yoga routine. I can't wait.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! It teaches young ones about yoga and breathing with great illustrations. This is an awesome book for parents and children to bond with as well. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who have children!
