Editorial Review
This long-awaited expanded edition of this bestselling book offers parents and professionals alike true-and-tried solutions to minimize and circumvent the often frightening circumstances that surround the rage cycle – for the child with Asperger Syndrome as well as others in the environment. In addition to almost doubling the section on interventions, this highly practical and user-friendly must-have resource also focuses on the behaviors and reactions of the adults around the child going through the stages of the rage cycle and emphasizes the importance of utilizing the teachable moments before and after a rage episode.

Asperger Syndrome . . . 2008-02-08
Excellent resource for classroom and home use. I would recommend it for anyone dealing with the the difficulties associated with ASD.

Extremely valuable 2007-12-11
This book was a huge help to me when my son was going through adolescence. I would strongly recommend any book by this author.

Aspergers Syndrome Emotional difficulties 2007-06-05
An excellent book, good practical advice. A must for anyone involved with teaching a child with Aspergers Syndrome. The first few chapters breakdown in simple talk what Aspergers People have the most difficulties with. It points out the areas that are considered "normal" for Aspergers syndrome, and that your child is not the only child having these difficulties. I found this particularly useful to show to teachers and principals who are either too busy or lack the inclination to learn about the Syndrome.

The next part of the book explains the rage process, what to look out for, where the teaching zones are and where it is best left until the child has calmed down.

The latter stage of the book gives solutions to the issues that result in Tantrums and meltdowns.

A must for anyone teaching Aspergers children and a great help to parents.

If I could own only one book on Asperger Syndrome... 2006-10-11
Honestly, this is a must have as far as I am concerned. It is a small book, but it is full of essential information that can help parents and professionals understand how to help individuals with Asperger Syndrome reach their potential. I have recommended this book to many parents and professionals in my work as an educational specialist and find it helpful when working as a member of an IEP team. Busy professionals and parents who advocate for children with Asperger Syndrome will find themselves referring to this book again and again.

Helpful for a certain type of Child with Aspergers 2006-08-22
Aspergers Syndrome is becoming much more commonly diagnosed in children. As an employee of the school system, I have worked with many children with this diagnosis in recent years. While children who are given this diagnosis have certain characteristics in common, there are certainly many differences between such children. The book is particularly helpful if you are a parent or educator involved with a child who has temper tantrums or meltdowns. Certainly many children with the diagnosis have this problem, but just as many others do not. The information presented in the book on strategies to deal with a child with Aspergers who has temper tantrums is excellent. If the strategies are applied consistently, they may help many children from repeating the temper tantrums or meltdowns as often in the future. If you are working with a child who does not have this pattern of behavior, I would recommend finding a different resource to help that person learn social skills, etc...

Not Impressed 2006-06-13
This book wasn't at all what I expected, although it did have some good information. I found it to be geared towards AS students who are having a hard time in the public school system. It would be an excellent book if this is your current situation. However, for homeschooling a kindergartener the information was not all that valuable and I would suggest that you look at other books first.

I not only kept a copy for myself, I gave copies to my child's teachers. 2006-03-21
I have a child who has not been diagnosed, however behaves in many ways as an Asperger child. His meltdowns in school have become more frequent and of longer duration. I purchased this book because I was grasping at straws. Upon implementing some of the strategies included in this book, I saw positive enough results at home to share the book with his teachers. They were astounded at the information contained here, and they now have their own copies!!!
