Excellent book for families with troubled teens
2008-03-30
This is an excellent book for parents with troubled teens. If you've tried everything else and nothing is working, I encourage you to buy this book and read through Dr. Case's material. I have personally known Dr. Case for many years and what he says here, as well as how he works with the adolescents and their families is better than you'll find anywhere else. Highly, Highly recommended!
required reading for parents of troubled teens

How I wish this book had been available a year ago, when my husband and I were trying desperately to figure out what to do with a son who was careening off the rails!! We are fortunate that author Paul Case was our son's therapist in his wilderness program, which is how we heard about the book. That said, Dr. Case has succinctly described the out-of-control teenager, the confusion and despair of parents, and the advantages to certain wilderness and therapeutic school programs. He also walks you through the process of getting into and through these programs, which is no small thing. I read countless books on troubled kids, how they got that way, and how to deal with them, but nothing put it all together in as empathetic and practical a way as What Now? I am giving copies to psychologists, ed consultants, and parents. The information in this book is right on the money, and can save alot of false starts and suffering.
