Interesting But Too Short
2008-08-15
This movie is quite good but it is too short and lacks detail. I want to know how the night flier became the way he is and why he targets certain people. Why does that woman want to be ready to die? Alittle more detail goes a long way. Other than that I would recommend this movie.
NIGHT FLYER - Good Made for TV Film and a Great DVD Transfer
2008-07-05
When my son purchased Night Flyer for his Steven King collection I really didn't take an interest as it looked like a second rate production. This was based on the appearance of the DVD art work and was an error on my part. One night in a fit of "nothing new" to watch on DVD I watched the film and was pleasantly surprised. I don't think the DVD jacket should have illustrated the creature as poorly as it did. In fact I think that may have hurt sales of this very good DVD.
The story is actually not too bad, original even for King and a well made for TV movie. The DVD transfer was excellent and was filmed in exactly the right 1.85 aspect ratio to fill my large screen HDTV with a clear, crisp and colorful picture that was like a night-out at the movies. It was so clear in fact that I took a second look to see if it was an enhanced DVD, or filmed in Blue Ray.

Bought because it was a Stephen King movie. I'm collecting all his movies and books.
My Hero Stephen King

Now, I had read alot of the reviews on this movie and was skeptical, there are a few negative remarks. Being an avid King fan I thought well, gotta at least watch it once. "I LOVED that movie", I wasn't expecting that ending at all. Once again, "Stephen King is the man"!!! It was an awesome movie and I thought a totally great ending.
A GREAT KING FILM ALL THE WAY THROUGH

I AM A BIG KING FAN AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE NIGHT FLIER IS A REALLY GOOD DARK FILM. THIS ONE IS WELL WORTH CHECKING OUT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
Waste of time

From Stephen King, comes a new tale of terror. What flies by night in a dark winged Cessna, lands at secluded airports and brutally murders local residents? For one reporter, the story of a lifetime may be his last. ' 'The best King adaptation since Misery.' ' (Fangoria)
Very disappointing!

I adore Stephen King but, this film was horrible. I am not sure if Stephen King wrote the screenplay adaptation. It was a ridiculous plot that a "vampire" rode around the country looking for his victims in a cessna plane. I will file this one away as one not to watch again.
Tabloid Terror...

Richard Dees (Miguel Ferrer) is a ghoul. No, he's not a supernatural grave-robber, he's another type altogether. Dees is a reporter for the notoriously tasteless, "Inside View" tabloid; A paper filled w/ outrageous stories, complete w/ photos capturing the very worst of humanity. Dees is the best in his field, able to cover any story, no matter how gruesome or base it may be. He just might be the most jaded news-hound alive! Enter the NIGHT FLIER, a serial-killing, mass-murdering fiend, the likes of which has only existed in Dees' twisted dreams. Until now. Dees gets the assignment of his career, to follow the Flier's blood-trail, wherever it may lead. This monster is no joke. He (it) has left no survivors in his wake. He lands his black Cesna Skymaster at tiny airfields, slaughtering anyone unlucky enough to be there. Dees starts out in typical cynical fashion, but soon realizes that things are way out of control. Especially after the Flier finds out he's being stalked by this would-be detective! THE NIGHT FLIER is nice and dark, with a menacing bloodsucker who is brutal, animalistic, and far from elegant. There's NO romanticized vampire here! This is a true beast, with a special little surprise for his tracker! If you like movies like THE NIGHT STALKER or NEAR DARK, then this could be the perfect latenight treat...
The Best Horror Film Ever Made
2007-11-01
The thing about the 1980s, is Europe was helping us Americans out. In the 90s you wanted something right here, right now. This decade, you want something even worse right here right now. These VHS tapes replaced drive in theaters for a sizable percentage of the American population, which went hand in hand with a Lutheran religion. This movie is the best horror film ever made, about an updated vampire stalking victims. Take a closer look at the box cover artwork- it's making fun of them. They did a lousy job at updating gothic unless it was religous affiliated. Anything 80s had to go in movies, so they changed this so it's more Amish oriented. Using that word Amish, most Amish don't even have TVs, and some branches permit them to drive cars, but it's the happy nature of tithing at church that this horror film doesn't aim to depress, and is much more upbeat like at the end when the vampire unmasks he is in fact an Amish or Lutheran style pilgrim Christian. These Mormons need to wake up, Lutheran and Baptist at 60 million a piece in churches alone is the dominant driving force behind America along with the Catholics big all around the world. My grandparents are Catholic and they still don't even made a CD player or a VCR or DVD. So, hats off to the makers of this film, the best horror has to offer. Anything evil i this film comes from the old school nature of the Lutheran and Catholic faiths, which Lutheran came from Catholic. The R rating is for mature content, not foul language. They want a G rating on everything, and I mean everything. My pastor said about R rated movies, it's fine as long as it's not foul language. Amen, praise the lord.
the better Vampire

Its one of the most interesting Vampire history/movie that I saw, just real lovers of this sort of history will like this one. A vampire with a demon face, not those you ever see on the current movies where a good shape vampire like just leave the fitness club before bite a neck.. :)
