Lots of holes in the rules!
2008-08-13
Has anyone figured out . . .
1 - What if you run out of Bank Loan chits?
2 - What are those little arrows on some of the spaces for?
3 - The rules say that in some cases you can get a double salary -- but they don't say which cases.
Monopoly, by contrast, has these questions all sewed up, not a hole or a situation they haven't thought of.
Really Great

This game is really great. It teaches kids about life. So what is it's not very durable. Also some of you adults out there think it's not realistic. Well, news flash... ITS A GAME! My favorite job is the doctor. My only problem is the spinner. It's very hard to spin. But, if you can get over that, buy it!
Life Review

I've had the game of Life in the past but needed a new one because of use. My friends, family and I have always enjoyed it. It's not too long of a game and fun for all ages.
Life Just Isn't Like This!

LIFE has many ups, and downs, and this game doesn't stress it enough. Here you make a bad move, and you could turn out fine. Ultimately, the world is no piece of cake. Losing your job is a HUGE deal. Having a baby is no small undertaking, as in this game.
Yes, it is just a game, but children could be mislead.
Life Changes Much like The New Spin on the Game Board

After seeing reviews on here i remembered how much i enjoyed this game in my childhood sitting around friends playing this, having a movie on in the background and some chips to go along with it. Great little atmosphere the original held, this one is quite a throw off.
The game board itself took on a much more childish scheme and added multiple
rules non existent and meaningless to older fans. The game still plays out similar, but the new ideals still give me a sour taste.
Overall though it is still arguably fun, it gives anyone a chance to win. The game is luck based in many degrees which gives a new out coming
and winner almost every time.
You can select careers, obtain starter and final homes, and raise a family. The spinner is a little weaker this time around though. Many pitfalls await and many chances.
fun, but... lacking in variety?

In this classic game of fortune, your goal is to dodge bad luck and make a buck. Along the way, you'll also earn valuable Life Tiles by doing good deeds, helping your community, or just taking a break from the rat race! Retire with the biggest fortune, and you'll win! Each space is a different adventure, so you'll get a whole new Life every time you play. What does Life have in store for you? Take a spin and find out! For 2 to 6 players. Game includes: game board, six plastic car pawns, plastic"people pegs", plastic mountains, spinner and bridge, MB money, 25 Life Tiles, deck of 36 cards, insurance policies, bank loans, label sheet and instruction sheet. Color of parts my vary.
Too much to it!

This game requires a lot of education before playing it. I read and reread the directions and still got confused. I'll have to study it.
This is not your father's Game of Life

I loved this game as a child. When my son got it for Christmas, I looked forward to playing. The first thing I noticed was the flimsy board -- you have to put it together every time you play, which is not fun.
The spinner is an absolute nightmare. I spent two days thinking I must have put it together wrong only to learn from other parents that it is just like that. I can't quite figure out what they were thinking at Hasbro. Were they TRYING to make it as hard as possible to spin the spinner without it falling off track? If so, they did an outstanding job. I truly miss hearing that pppppppttttttbzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound when you spin the Life spinner as hard as you can.
One positive: I sort of like the fact that you get to choose your job and home -- it helped my son look at a variety of factors to decide what a "good" job was and he had a good laugh at having to choose between the mansion and the shack.
Tell MB to quit making this sooo cheap- by not buying it.....

Ok, here is my gripe. When I was a kid, you took this game out of the box, did the regular passing out of money and other administerial stuff, and away you went. Not with this POS......You have to assemble the whole game, every time you play. That means putting the houses onto the board. You even have to attach the mountains! Maybe I''m getting too old, but the version I had you didn't have to do this. Talk about cheesey. MB make a little less money and atleast give us a pre-assembled board.
Lots of fun, but not like life..

Our family likes playing this game. There is no skill involved, so kids can play as easily as adults.
The only negative in my mind is that jobs are based on luck. If you spend money (take out loans that you have to pay back with interest)to go to college, you don't really have any better chance of making more money. My husband always 'goes to college' and has never won the game! My son sees this, and skips college every time. Personally I would like a game that would encourage children to go to college, instead of thinking they can be a rockstar or sports hero and make more than the doctors and lawyers. Maybe it's just me, but I find it annoying in that respect.
Again, though, this is a fun family game.
