Amazing Calculator. 2008-09-08
I'm a college engineering student, so math is as common to me as breathing, and a calculator is almost part of my wardrobe. I bought the TI-30XA back in high school for a mere $10 on discount, and have been using it ever since.

I love my TI30. It's reliable, easy to use, actually has features that some GRAPHING calcs don't have (DMS to DD conversion, for example)--or at least don't have in an easy-to-find place--is light, and of course inexpensive. I think I have changed the batteries once in all those years, and that calc has never missed a beat.

The cons are, of course, inherent to any scientific calculator. With a single-line screen, it cannot do multiple part equations, faciliating the use of a pen and paper to write down the answers to each part (although it does have parentheses, which helps). And, of course, it doesn't display graphs.

However, I have taken pre-calc and Calculus I, II, III, as well as advanced physics and several engineering classes, and never bothered to buy a graphing calc. The little TI-30 has served me just fine. In those rare ocassions where I need to see a graph displayed, and can't figure it out on my own, my computer does the job.

I would highly recommend this calculator. Texas Instruments simply makes the best, and the low cost, high reliability, and ease of use of this model make it a winner in all categories. Even if it doesn't serve all your needs, its cost makes it an easy buy just to have on hand. You could even use it in the store to do price comparison. All in all, it's a great machine.

1st one faulty, 2nd one ok 2007-09-04
The original calculator I received became faulty within 1 week of use. CambridgeWorld sent me a new one to replace it in 2 weeks.

Horrible 2006-11-29
i cannot use it its too confusing. im used to the casio calculators. not recommended.

great calculator 2005-12-12
For the price, it is hard to beat this calculator. I've had this model for years and it is still going strong, with no problems or even a change of battery. Numbers are easy to read and the buttons are fairly large, with second functions labeled clearly. Lots of functions, and it is easy to use for stats. I also like the fact that it has an OFF button, which many models don't have. If you need a graphing calculator, of course this will not do, but for everyday use this model is a durable workhorse that I highly recommend.

A dissenting opinion on a terrible calculator 2005-06-22
I bought two of these calculators and neither performs well - the buttons are terribly sensitive to the point that we often accidently enter the wrong numbers, so we have to pay extra attention. Further, my calculator is currently displaying entirely different numbers than I am putting in - perhaps the battery is dying, but I have no idea how long it may have been doing this. I will definitely be looking for a different calculator next time around.

Fantastic Calculator, Great Price! 2005-02-22
This is a great calculator for those who have problems with Trig or fractions. Allows advanced input such as: 5 3/5 + (20 32/33 X 105) - (34 + 3/8), and also converts fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions. Will also reduce fractional asnwers to lowest terms. A perfect calculator. As for the reviewer that doesn't know what batteries to use, it says right on the back of the calculator next to the battery symbol.

Not the same product....(3 1/2 Stars) 2005-02-12
This is the second TI-30XA I have owned. The one I owned before lasted 6 years and I was happy with the product; so happy that I bought the same exact product. This current one that I bought just about three months ago is not any good. It went dead on me after only 6 weeks! I was really hoping for the same great product, but I guess they have went downhill such as many of my favorite items. If my new one lasts half the time as my old one then my rating will go up-yet, we will have to wait and see.

batteries? 2004-12-01
Good luck getting batteries. There is no information anywhere on the calculator, or on the TI website (e.g., in the Guidebook!). Don't waste your money.

Good Price, Reliable 2004-11-30
I bought this calculator two years ago, and even though it isn't as fancy as some, it has done everything it needs to do in school. It has simple features but the buttons are easy to find and I still haven't had ant problems. It's probably one one the most reliable calculators ever, especially for the great price. Great for middle school/high school students.
